      GA3'S OR WC3'S on a 68 Camaro?

      Hey guys,

Been waiting all year for the forgeline sale but now that it is upon us I am at an impass with which setup to go with.. I have a 68 camaro that is the same EXACT color as Bad Penny.. Ive always loved the WC3 wheels that were on that car but I know they are in gunmetal grey. I really want to go with a full black wheel but with all the choices on the website at Forgeline I am not sure how to go.. matte black center, satin black center, polished rim, matte black rim, satin black rim a combination of the two.. UGHHHH!!! Really big purchase for me and the time is right so I dont want to mess it up! Anyone have pics of a 68 camaro that they can post for me that have the black options or combos on their car?

The two options I am looking at are either the WC3 rim or th GA3.. I really like the GA3 look but again dont know which color combo I should go with.. All the windshield molding around the front and rear glass is in a satin black and I plan on doing the same to the windshield wipers!!

Any help is greatly appreciated!!! I want to get these rims ordered.. Oh and I have a minitubbed rear with 4 disc big brake setup...

      Thanks

Look at the 48 hour Camaro. It has black Forgelines.

Hey Steve thanks!! I just looked through the entire build on youtube!! Really cool! Alot of what they did to the suspension on that car is just about the same as Im putting in the 68 so that was very very cool to see for sure! Looks like I will be going with the GA3'S is 100% satin black ...One question I really have is this though.. are you really able to fit a 10 inch rim under the front of a 68 camaro with the strong arm setup, tall spindle and tru turn system? How is that possible without modifying the outerlip and inner fender well?

There was minor modification to the front fender on the 48 Hour Camaro to get 10s on there. We ahve doen this installation in the shop. On a done car I do not recomend the mods. We can get a 9.5 and a 265 under there much easier which is PLENTY of tire. You wont miss the 10MM (1/4" of tire)

      As for your Forgelines

      Merry Christmas!

Frank is 100% right. At RTTH's bret let me put the front wheel/tire combo off the camaro on my nova with the true turn set up. Bret told me that the novas have more room then the camaro. They rubbed alittle on the sway bar.

thanks guys! I am planning on going with 18x12 with a 335 tire out back.. I am running a 9 inch rear on it and was told to run a 5.5 inch backspace.. If I go with an 18x9.5 inch front and a 265 tire what should I use for a backspace on the front?

How much backspace you go on the rear depends on how much outer lip you want if your rear is not narrowed yet. A 5.5 BS will give you a 5" to 5 1/2" outer lip depending on exatly what wheel you choose. We can go up to a 6" outer lip and all the way down to no outer lip. If your rear is already narrowed, that will dictate Backspace.

As for the front, that depends on the suspension and brake package, RE: track width.

Regardless, after our Q and A session when you order, we gurantee the back space.

On a car that is the same color as Penny, and since you are doing a very similiar wheel, I'd do a very different finish on the wheels. Me personally, I'd go with a titanium or gun metal center, and a satin black outers to match the trim on the car.

Like Frank said, we've had similiar questions, and had similiar results with the True Turn, it does take modifications to the front fenders, so to recommend it as a "fix" to running a wider wheel and tire on the front of these cars, and on a done car, and for the typical guy putting everything together in his garage, I wouldn't recommend it.

I have a set of GA3's with polished lip and titanium centers on order. I am hoping to get them in the next week or two. I was told that mine are one of the first few GA3's ordered. I will post pics when I get them.

EDIT: sorry mine are GZ3's. at a quick glance they look very similar.
