I, too, was there and was able to watch both James and Bret put down their final (and I believe fastest) runs of the weekend. Impressive to watch those guys drive! And I can attest to the conditions of the OLC's front tires. They are worn out.

I'm glad I was able to make it and see some of these cars in person. There were some very impressive cars at the show, and we Texans finally got a little weather break which made for a great day on Saturday. James, Bret, Jimi, and Jason Rushforth, nice to meet you all...

Some shots I took at the show on Friday, didn't make it out the rest of the weekend.

Cool to see the 48hour Camaro in person!

Bret was the man to beat for sure.

I managed a best of 59.400 in the cutlass on my last run and the last run of the event. 6 seconds off the winners pace but Still a lot of fun.

I parked by this guy what a machine.

Which we did by over a half second - lol
Great course, great event, great weekend!

Bret was struggling with a rapidly deteriorating 2nd gear and on Sunday his first pass was done mostly in first... it was the most violent sounding, insane, brutal lap and was his fastest. The 48-hour Camaro was built to be driven and Bret has absolutely no hesitation in putting that car through heck - and it takes everything that he throws at it. It was awesome to watch!

Yeah...the trans is done...like really done. I made the last pass driving with my left hand while holding the shifter in first with the right. If I had any sense I would have parked the car on Friday after I determined that second gear had a tooth missing. My wife knows I have no sense, I have fun!

Thanks. It was my first GG Autocross and Im thrilled the car survived it. I wish I could do it again next weekend. I keep thinking of ways I could try and improve my time.

Congrats James on the win.... I had a blast trying to beat your times all weekend. You, Jimi and the OLC was fast and smooth with only 3 tires. You did a great job and it was very nice to meet you!

Congrats Bret on the vendor class win. It is a blast to watch you drive the hell out of your car.

Oops, I forgot to mention Terry in the fast crowd. I was very impressed with the car and his driving. He and the car have gotten a lot faster since march. The last lap of the OLC was so smooth it looked slow, but super quick.
We had a great weekend in Tx., but tired and glad to be home. We had to rebuild the motor after Columbus, and just got it runnunig on monday. After a few details, we packed up and headed out wed a.m. Once we crossed into Az., I unloaded the truck and drove it a while, tring to give it a chance to break in. Tina drove the motorhome w/trailer in tow. To change the rpm, I'd pass her, exit the fwy, then get back on and catch up, over and over. The motorhome can go 400+ miles on a tank, the 'Bullit, about 150 the way I was driving. At the Texas line, we loaded it back up and I drove through El-Paso and on into the night. Thursday we did it again for a couple hundred miles in west Tx. Once in Ft.Worth we hunted down 'Jet', recomended to us by Jeff Abbott at Painless to help with tuning. Friday we had to hunt down a new MAF, our E-bay 90 Lightning unit was putting out bad signals. Once in, and with some tuning, it was running pretty good. I rushed over to the autocross, just as it closed up. Trent let me run a lap to check it out. Tine used a stopwatch, and ran a 57 sec lap. And, it was smoking like crazy, and caught fire. Not good. Some wire wrap had been laid on the header and combined with some oil coming out of the dipstick, caught fire, put it out and cleaned it up. Thats enough truck stuff for one day. Back at the RV I discovered the PCV valve stuck. (closed) swapped it and no more oil issues. Had cocktales with Tina at Cowboy Chow, and then dinner at Babes with the ridetech and optima guys, - thanks. Saturday we headed into the show and the auto-x. On run #2, the throttle stuck as I crossed the finish lights, or somewhere on the back stretch. I shut it down without incident. The new cable had frayed and caught under the edger of the floor mount. Adjusted and trimmed it back as far as I could. Fixed. Ran a fast lap of 54.326? thats my note, but I'm not positive, as I was a bit scattered with everything going on. But, fast enough to win the class. Sat eve we hung out in the campground for pizza and beer with Bret and the boys. Jet came back and finished the tune, and now it's really runnin. Sunday was more relaxed, and after the awards we headed for home. Had a great time, and was glad to be there. Hope to see you all soon.
