Another new guy in st. louie

Love the site I am becoming addicted to it, here is my story and my plan.I will try to keep it short
I bought a 69 firebird in 1981 got married in 1982 and started working on the car ( keep in mind I bought this car in Wisconsin and drove it home to st. louis, so in hindsight I dont know why I decided to disassemble the car)

so there a few pics, the last one has my youngest in the pic she likes to help once in a while , so my story is
got married
bought a house
had first child 2 weeks after moving in
added second floor on to house for growing family
sent 3 kids to school
those are my excuses, but the daughter in the pick is my youngest and she will be out of school in 3 more semesters and I told my wife I want to drive the bird again.
I am selling 3 of my motorcycles
and possibly our 70 bonneville to start funding the project.
what I want, I dont think I will be going to the races with this car but I do want it to ride like its on rails, picked up a 455 last year and want to convert it to a stick 4 speed would be fine, although the more I look the more I want a 6 speed. I have a lot more pics and will be posting in the project update section, soon I hope!
I know I will get all the support and advice I need here

I am in Webster groves, great to hear from guys in my neck of the woods, I have been a member on a motorcycle forum for years and no one in the area with similar bikes
heres another ride we have this one will just be a stocker , and actually will sell eventually to fund the firebird

been trying to talk the wife into movin out for several years so I can build a nice shop, I have a 2 car with additions on 2 sides but I also build custom cabinets, have 9 motorcycles ( only 5 are in the garage) its a mess! if the real estate market comes back thngs might happen.
I love Washington a couple buddys and I ride out to marquarts landing for a beer a few times a year, I think the wife is up for the ride this year, she just got back on the bike with me last summer.
I laugh at the pic of the bonne my son in that picture is now 26 and 6'4" and of course I dont look any different

didnt go, my buddy just put a new front end under his stang and needs an alignment before he hits the road with it should make it next month

I will have to attend one day, but fenton is a little distance from me when I am home (what kind of gathering is it?). Also another question since we have St. Louis people on this chat, does anybody know of any tracks in the area. My car will be down in the next 2 months and I plan o driving the wheels off when that happens!!!!

the fenton get together was pretty big the last time I went they have a tent with BBQ and snacks I have seen hundreds of cars there,I have heard there has been 3 to 4 hundred there at times. its in the parking lot of the huge church that is on hyw 30 (gravios rd) 1/2 mile west of hyw 270
My buddy has seen a line to get in when the gate opens at 4pm

welcome from another midwesterner... Im 15 miles east of St louis...and heard rumors of a track opening in Wentzville mo, always rumors that someome bought Gateway. I think theres a 1/8 mile track out by Mount Vernon Il and then there is Putnam Park in Mt. Meridan In.

really those sound awesome and they are within driving range and towing back from range, I just need to break in my engine before i get there. I will look those two up

heard gateway is shut down, the rumor I heard was a track possibly in Hillsboro about 30 minute south west of me.

Yeah it was announced in oct 10 that it was closed and is up for sale. There are alot of rumors floating around about someone buying it but they are just rumors. Putnam would be long drive there and back in one day plus racing. Might be better if you stayed at a hotel Mount Vernon area would be about 2-3 hours each way for you.
