      Sad day....

One of my best friends that I have known since middle school lost his car a few days ago. He just sent me the photos from just after it happened. He had just bought it from his dad the day before, but

Story goes: He was following his dad, who was driving his 2009 gt500 convertible, came to a red light and was almost stopped when a teen driving a bmw suv didnt stop two cars back. It hit hard enought to rupture the fuel tank and break both seats from the force. Gt500 has about 10,000 in damage and the 65' is totalled. He plans on buying it back from the insurance company to see if its fixable.

Oooohhh, I'd a beat some @$$. That blows. Tell him to buy it back. If he can do some work himself he may be able to get it fixed for the settlement.

      Ouch.

      That really sucks.

Looks like it was a real nice car too.

If he does buy it back and finds that it isn't repairable, I may be interested in the roof and related items to convert a coupe to fast back.

Damn, I hate hearing about these sort of things....distracted drivers.
Just visited my sister in hospital in another city on the weekend....distracted driver crossed the centre line and took the side out of her car. Quite a few broken bones, but she was lucky.

Sorry to hear this. Glad your buddy and his Dad are ok. That can be fixed. Rockers look ok and the main center structure looks intact. Front & rear clip.

That sucks, I hope he can fight the insurance for a decent value, that is a real PITA.
The car on the other hand, looks repairable, and a very nice car.

Yikes, that really blows. Glad your friend is ok, that could have been worse.

Probably so, but I will throw this out there. Everyone go check your brake lights for adequate brightness in daylight. One of my friends was following me one nice sunny day and he told me the tail/brake lights in my 77 were barely visible. I have since rebuilt my taillights, polishing the lenses and rechroming the reflective surface in side. They are now much better.

This is very good advice for anyone. Our old cars are just that, old. We spend so much time/energy on making everything shiny, go fast parts, slow fast parts, but we overlook some of the most basic items. I actually swapped the sockets in the rear of my 69 to have 4 brake lights, not just 2.

Exactly why I did the LED conversion on my car.

I added a 3rd brake light to mine, because there were too many people, get close to me, when they were panic braking.
