Bmw m3 wheels: Need help on if they will fit?

My friend has 2 sets that he is getting rid of or letting me borrow,

After searching that wheels of a m3, it has a bolt pattern of 5x120 with a hub size 72.6mm.

I think the 67 camaro is a 5x120.7? Just trying to make sure.. I just need a set of rollers while I wait/decide on a wheel design to buy.

but back to the question, would 18x8 +6 offset and 18x10 0+ offset work?

or he has another set that the rear is a 18x9.5 +6 offset.

If these would work, let me know...I'm getting them pretty much for free so I can work on the suspension and brakes since the wheels on the car right now are 15x7.

Those are incredibly close to a perfect fit, Dan. Out back, you should run the 9.5s. They might be a little close in a couple spots because they aren't made to your car's exact specs but you should be good.

I have M3 wheels on my Chevelle with Corvette C4 suspension.
AFAIK all 18" M3 wheels were 18x8" front and 18x9" rear but I could be wrong.
My car has Vette suspension so backspace is for sure different but on my car I've put the 18x9" rears on the front and I'll have the front 18x8" front widened to 11" and use them on the rear.
the hub is different the Vette is 70.5mm and the BMW is 72.5 so a 1mm thick ring is needed in MY application.
Bolt circle is 5x120mm on the wheels and 5x120.65mm on the hub so that part fits fine.

Please remember that this is on my car and that yours can be different.
      Have Fun!

I have read about them and they do need the hub centric ring. From what I have read, GM cars are lug centric. Shouldn't matter if you are using them for mock up.

      Dom,

Do you know the exact specs for your wheels and spacers? I too have a "stock" 69 camaro in need of some cool wheels.

BTW - your car looks great.

thanks Matt! i have 18" 3 piece ROH international "Modenas" they were off of a 1999 Bmw M3 that i bought as a project that i never finished and sold. my bolt pattern is 5x4.75 which is also 5x120.7 so what i did was i had to run adapter spacers on all corners in order for the wheels to clear the wheel wells and fill the wheel well out. i went on ebay and got 1 1/4" spacers that were billet, which had the same bolt pattern as my car and the same bolt pattern on the studs that were pressed into the spacers(5x4.75). with the spacers i also ordered hub-centric rings from jegs so that when i mount the wheel onto the spacer the wheel is center not putting pressure on any given stud making it snap. here is a picture i took a while back of my setup.-Dom

Thanks for the pics, but I was looking more for the ones who said that they were using actual BMW wheels, not just wheels that were BMW spec'd.

Do you autocross/track with this setup? If so, have you seen any issues with the bolt pattern difference? I'm just throwing that out there in case someone is looking at a set of BMW wheels with track time in there future.

      Thanks,
      Kerry

i havent done any auto cross yet, but i have done some hard driving to say the least. i replaced all the studs front and rear with ARP wheel studs that were longer than the ones in the picture so that i had some extra bite. what i usually do, and which should be done often is i check and re-torque my lugs often just to be safe! i do know that bmw wheels are only a few mm or so off thats why i got the hubcentric rings so that it will be centered and not stress any of the lugs and wear them down. i know autox does put alot of stress on the studs and probably even more with the spacers , but my car rides fine with them and i havent had any complaints. i hope to do some autox and road courses when my t56 swap is done. -Dom

I got a killer deal on a set of Ronal BMW 2 piece wheels in 18x9.5 for all 4. The backspacing seems fine on many 5 or 7 series BMW wheels, and all I'll need is the $20 aluminum hubcentric rings I got for $20 on ebay shipped. In fact....the BS is better on 5 or 7 series than the 3 series cars.....might not even need a spacer, or a smaller spacer depending on your car and you'll get more of a "lip" on the wheel. I dont need one. JUST BE CAREFUL.....MAKE SURE YOU GET BMW WHEELS WITH AT LEAST THE 74.1 OR 72.6MM HUB OPENING. Apparently some are smaller.....would suck to buy a pair, bring them home, and then find out they wont even slip over your hub. Ronal makes OEM wheels for quite a few european car makers including BMW at times, so even though this particular set was aftermarket from them they are built to BMW specs. Here's an actual pic, then a stock pic.

and a pic of the centers in satin black the guy sent me....might get mine done like that too.

Not the greatest pics, and they're oooooooooold, but here:

Last pic looks weird...I think it's the angle...makes it look like the car sits pretty high...

Thanks for the info. What are the offsets on the BMW wheels you are using? How did you calculate the size of the spacers?

      Thanks again!

Don't remember the exact specs, I'd have to measure. I asked a few of the wheel sponsors on the site what size adapters I'd need and they all said 1.5", I think. I opted to get 1.25" adapters and ended up having clearance problems with the tie rod ends, so I had to get some 1/4" spacers to put on top of the adapters. The rears actually bolted up and were basically perfectly centered in the wheelwells without spacers/adapters.

That said, they bolt up fine and I can go straight no problem, but the offsets up front are clearly too high because the wheels hit the frame when I try to turn.

I got them for about $500, including brand new tires, so I can't complain. I just needed new wheels to fit over my C5 brakes so I got these. If you're using them just to roll the car around, they'll be fine, but if you want to actually drive with them, keep in mind that you'll need to notch the frame.

I asked this to Kore3 a while ago and got this as part of the reply:

"A lot of people will run 5x120 wheels on 5x120.65 hub patterns and swear by it, however it is not something that we would recommend doing. The wheel stud is out of position by approximately .012", so not by very much, however this equates to roughly 20-25 percent higher wheel stud stresses than if the patterns properly matched one another which is quite significant."
