      Insurance

Do you guys use a classic car specialty insurance company or just your mainstream company like State Farm? I've put so much $$ into my car the past 6 months and want to up my coverage. I had to have it appraised when I got my MN Collector's plates. I would also like to have "Agreed Value" coverage too.

I have a good driving record and only drive my car to cruise or to car shows. I never race or anything like that.

I use Grundy and love it. It's an agreed value policy and cheaper then regular insurance.

You are an "agreed value" candidate and check out Hagerty, Grundy, and also State Farm (they have agreed value collector car coverage).

Mary, I have yet to see a true agreed value from state farm. Talked to them as recently a 3 weeks ago. Maybe it varies by state?

State farm offices are franchises owned by families so I think it varies by branch?

I have State Fram with an agreed value policy. This policy is cheaper than the "regular" car policy I had on it when I first got it.
And I even had to make a claim on it when somebody dropped something on the trunk lid ruining the paint and State Farm was awesome with the claim. Very quick service and I could take it where I wanted to and the adjuster came out and inspected the car there and cut me a check on the spot for the repair. I was surprised at how good the service was.
I am not useless, I can still be used as a bad example!

Thanks much for the info. I've been with State Farm since I was a kid, so I'm going to talk with them first. Then I'll check out Grundy and Hagerty. I very rarely need to use my insurance, but if something were to happen, it's nice to get some help.

never seen a true agreed value policy from State Farm. Just because you "agree" on the value, does NOT make it an agreed value policy. They always have the "actual cash value" wording in the policy that allows them to determine the actual value, run comps, etc.

I've seen collector car policies from State Farm, but they're stated value not agreed value. Mary, is this something new?

WOW, I just went there and got a quote for Hagerty and it was $692 a year. I think that's cheaper than what I pay Allstate for just liability. That is amazing.

+1 for Morgan. I spent 4 hours calling different insurance companies trying to get my questions answered. Some places were clueless, some were rude, and some of the answers I got greatly conflicted with stuff I have read on pro-touring.com. I wish I had found Morgan's site before I wasted four hours of my life.... He is a good guy to work with, answered all my questions and set me up with a policy through Hagarty.

I use Hagerty. We have a $35,000 agreed value with 0 deductible for $250 a year.
