      GTO 6 spd

I have a 6 spd from an '06 GTO with less than 25k miles and am considering putting it in my bel air this winter. I haven't been able to figure out the hp/ft lbs rating for this trans and are these #s at the crank?

The HP rating on the '06 GTO is 400. One of my Pontiac buddies has one he drives hard and it has held up so far. He's broken Muncies behind his other Pontiacs.

I'm trying to figure out how much hp/ft lbs the transmission is rated to handle as my Bel Air has a 409 putting out about 500 hp & 525 ft/lbs at the crank. The car currently has an older TKO that has very odd gearing and with the 4.10 rear it runs out too quickly in each gear and revs at about 3000 rpm @ 75. I must tame the beast over the winter.

This link claims that despite their hp rating of 400 or 450, they can handle up to 750. It depends on how hard you drive it, and how well your car hooks up as well. For cruising, it shouldn't be a problem.
