Cost of PT suspension work??

Ok so I am currently in the works of getting some work done to my stock 69 camaro. The car is in great shape. No rust, runs good. Other than being old the car is in great shape. So I want to upgrade the car to a semi- PT Camaro. So to list of a few things I got to upgrade are new Global West front suspension tub control arms, with the QA1 adjustable shocks, Front disc Wilwood brakes. Rear Suspension got the ridetech 4 LInk suspension kit w ridetech rear shockwave shocks, also w/ rear Wilwood break kit. So the question that I have for someone with experience is .... How much would it be for labor cost on a project like this? Also how long should a project like this take from start to finish?

suspension swap and full brake install would be in the 18-20 hour range. A bit more if welding is involved.

honestly if you had all the parts and its just a straight forward installation then you can have it done in a week...or less in a shop that isn't busy.

Don't alot of shops charge in the $100-125/hour range? With Quik's 18=20 hr estimate, that would be $1800-2500

Mr Quick (Vince) does all of my work and with suspension adjustments have made me 6 seconds faster at Thunderhill Race Park and 8 seconds at Buttonwillow. There rates beat anybodies around. If you are in Nor-Cal I highly recommend them!!!

BTW, the name of their shop is called Dream Speed Motors.

WOw, this thread has made me feel alot better. Thought was gonna bit quite the bit more pricey than what ya'll are saying.

we charge $85 an hour and we are below our region average.

Mini tubs are 40 hours and that includes wheel and housing fitment. Some shops might charge extra for interior strip down and reinstallation.


Thanks Gaetano, Steves car started as an engine swap and turn into a full skin replace and LS/T56 build....after 3 days this is where we are at. LOL







He pooped himself when he came by to drop off parts 2 days after dropping it off. Haaaaaaa Haaaaa so are we going to SEMA??

...and yeah no wonder lots of Californians ship their cars out of state... there are some excellent shops around the country charging 50-70% of what Calif shops are charging.

He has not billed me for anything yet. Thats why I wanted to see what people on the forum were saying so i dont get bent over. So if he comes at me saying i owe him 5k. i can tell him to stick it, because people like Frank and MR Quick have kindly responded and I have a good platform on how much I should be charged.

I still want to get a bunch more work dont but I know this isnt the guy to continue with. He teaches mechanics at a auto tech school in LA, so he has just been working on my car when he gets a chance. HE is not a professional shop by any means. He has a decent shop at his house where he has been doing the work from.

Currently the car is almost to the point where it can be a roller. After all the suspension work is done, thats it. Slap it back on the body and put my s.h.*.t back together. it has been 9 months...SIGH....for a 18-20 hr project....i mean i know there are holds up hear and there, but at max should have taken him 1 month.

Well that changes things a bit. It is not a shop.Sounds like its a guy trying to help out. Is it being work at school? Maybe he is trying to get a few semester out of it.

I think in this case a bit more communcation with him might clear the situation up.

yes, body and mechanical. Basically everyone makes the same money so we charge the same

Glad I could bring in a decent sized project for you guys after all you have done for me. I am really happy with all the clean up and suspension work you guy's have done for me. Cant afford to do the track thing for awhile but I will start hitting all the local shows to get you guy's some more exposure.

Damn, I new that thing was a rust bucket when he brought it to you but didn't think it was that bad. I talked to Steve and he knows he's in good hands, heard he picked up a vette motor for $2000.

As far as SEMA goes, I am still searching for manufacturer to represent me. I spoke with Rick at Auto Power Industries and he is no longer sponsoring cars but is going to consider SEMA. I sent him some pic's of the car and am waiting to hear back. From the sounds of it, the economy isn't helping him much either.

Gaetano, You need to try to get a invite to optima Challenge then your in SEMA. You race that car, they should really consider it.

Thanks Frank, not really interested in SEMA, just want to get into optima Challenge.

I tried to get an invite through Jimi Day but for some reason he said he couldn't because I needed a manufacturer to sponser me. He then offered in leiu of optima to pay my entry fees for RTTC if I represented him but I basically told him I wasn't a cone dodger and I just wanted to get on the road course at Spring Mountain with guys like Stielow to see how my car measured up. After I turned him down for RTTC I never heard from him again. May have burned a bridge.

Once again, sorry Jimi, didn't mean to offend you, just having a hard time getting into the cone dodging thing.

you just have to get past that Gaetano. once you get a few cone days under your hat you should do fine.
