That was an unusually hot day for June, but you kind of get used to the Alabama heat. I felt bad for the guys we talked to from places like Conn. or NH especially when I noticed they didn't have AC.

What about us 3 Canucks in a mustang without AC? We're back in Canada and I'm freezing my ass off. 70? What the hell, that's frickin cold!

I feel for you. It is impossible (at least in my opinion) to live in the deep south without AC. I won't even consider a build without it. I would have recognized your car from the site here, but we got there late and a lot of the Tour were leaving after a long hot day in the parking lot.

first thing I noticed in the above pic is that you are doing 40mph with near 0 oil pressure. I take it that wasnt the point of the photo.

Man... 6k miles... and I'm bitching about 3500 miles in a late model.

      I'll shut up about it.

Glad the car made the whole trip with out any huge issues!

Ok, this is the last straw. Its probably a good thing that this forum ***'s out swearing....

So, I finaly got a chance to get the car in for an oil change and general going over. The front struts are in such rough shape that I'm not really comfortable driving it. The sound it makes when it tops out is just aweful. And it wanders the road like crazy....

Anyway, I changed the oil and wanted to get some more grease on all of the poly bushings to attempt to get them to shut up. Well prior to doing that I was inspecting stuff. I grabbed the wheel just to see if I had any play. Well wholy fusk, the hub moved around like it was going out of style!!!!!! I'd estimate that with my hand I could move the hub about 1/4" front to back. Looking at the front end closely you could see that the bushings in the lower control arms were completely town up. Wow, this FatMan front end is a true POS! I guess I now know why its wandering....

Since I'm currently waiting on my Bilstein struts, I guess I'll pull the lower "out of" control arms and modify them to accept spherical rod ends. That'd give me the ability to adjust castor too as I dont believe there is enough in the system. This front end doesnt come back to center, you have to steer it back, although that could be a function of my higher than designed srub radius.

Wow, the front end saga just keeps going and going.....

      Wes

Oh ya, did I mention the steering radius? My long box extended cab truck turns MUCH tighter than this thing..

This is a rack and pinon front end setup, no? I have yet to hear of a single R&P conversion setup for early Mustangs that turns as tight as stock. If I recall, when you got the car, it already had this setup on it, didn't it?

This is one of the reasons, I'm going install a Borgeson box to improve steering, rather than a conversion.
