      V12 FI system

Any suggestions for an aftermarket modern FI system, complete with ignition for a V12 engine? Engine is a 4 liter Ferrari currently with the equivilent to Bosch K-jetronic on it, but system is way too bulky for the project I have planned. Would also like to do away with the bulky distributor and go with coil packs. OK with "wasted spark" system, as I would rather not mess with a cam position sensor.

Motec for sure. M880 and you could run a distributor-less coil setup and even DBW. Bob Norwood out of Dallas, has built tons of these systems for Ferraris, all Motec. I think his website is www.norwoodautocraft.com or www.bobnorwood.com.

Also might try looking into Megasquirt. Give diyautotune.com a look see. It can be had assembled or you can build your own system. Pretty cool when you think about it after seeing a lot of these systems in the $3k to $4k range.
I have am LT1 induction system and its going to get Megasquirt.

Some interesting reads. Looks like the motec uses four converted ignition outputs to "create" 12 injector outputs. Hmm... seems more like a patch.

What about the new Holley Dominator set up? Looks like it comes with 12 ignition and injector outputs.

      Any experiences??

Never mind. Just saw this line in the description:
      "Works with 4, 6, 8 and 10 cylinder engines"

This might be a silly suggestion, I haven't really thought it through, but it seems like you could use two systems and treat your engine like two inline sixes. It would require two controllers, but would still be a heck of a lot cheaper than a motec. Thoughts?

Ford did this when installing a V10 in a mustang prototype
As for me simply run a Megasquirt and run the injectors in batchfire.

I know Electromotive has a system that will do it.

Sean: I don't find that a silly question at all. I have seriously considered putting together something exactly like that using two identical set ups for small 6 cyl engines. Would just need to use two of virtually everything. This is what BMW did on their V-12's starting in 89. I am intimately familiar with that set up, as I picked up an 850i for my son several years ago and have maintaned it. While it is a wonderful car, I don't want to use the BMW set up because the distributors are driven directly off the ends of the cams - and besides, it is getting to be pretty old technology - and frankly throttle response is not quite as good as I would like. In fact, I remember the BMW literature stating that if one side of the engine quit working for any reason, you could still "limp" home at 105 mph on just one bank of cylinders.

Anyway, thanks to all for the suggestions. I did receive a pm from a fellow who highly recommends the Electromotive set up, so I will give it serious consideration.
