      Buick

So my brother is ready to start building a car again. He is showing intrest in 1957 Buick Roadmaster (It was our moms 1st car and he is wanting to build a updated version of it) I told him it will be tough to find a good car at a decent price but we are gonna try. Just wondering if anyone has PT'd one of these, are any of suspension parts interchangeable with GM cars? Any input.
      thanks

Leno's '55 Roadmaster has a Corvette suspension underneath it.

Restoring old Buicks is not for the weak at heart or short in the check book. They have so much chrome on them that the bill for plating alone can easily be in the tens of thousands of dollars. You will be way ahead of the game to buy a completed car and change the suspension,brakes,wheels,...etc.

yes I tried to explain that too him.. Im by far not a Buick expert but the people I have spoken too that do own them have said the same thing.
were gonna sit down this weekend and figure out a budget and what he wants in a car and see if this is even possable for him.

It sounds like a cool project, add an updated suspension, a built 455 Buick. he will be set.

Heres my 55 special, post car they make a sweet ride but get the check book warmed up. If you decide to build the roadmaster definitly build a nailhead or 455 thats my only regret. But we did put a cool sbc in. Good luck, hope the picture posts.

If its getting up dated, put in some air ride from ridetech, work out some big Corvette disc brakes and swap out old knee-action shocks ofr something little more substantial and if I had my druthers Id probably use a NorthStar but swap on Lucerne identifiers.
Some people dis the Northstar but guys the first gen is a runner and all it takes is a little research and some competent thought to make one live and run good,,, oh and CHRFAB.com does a lot with them.
