      lsx in 1970 challenger

Just picking up a 70 challenger, six cyl car, thinking project "sacrilage" and using a lsx due to ease of availability etc, I like the new hemi's but cost prohibitive in comparison, anyone seen or done this to any e-body? lots of mustangs running them, why not?

Putting a LSx in it sounds like a great Idea It's your car, if it works, and it should, they are awfully good engine with a lot of part sources.

      Good luck,
      TY

used srt-8 motors are all over and would certainly help ur car retain value in the long run. and as much as install time & parts can add up to i'd just put the srt hemi in it. positives out weigh the negatives.

Wow - The title is spot on! I'd be torn though. I'm diehard Mopar all the way.....but why not, it's your car....Got for it. I'm not sure that the 3G HEMI can make as much power as an LSX engine - initial cost and dollar for dollar considered.

i know ive been thinking the same things i mean for a little over 3k u can pick up a 5.7 hemi and trans with everything that makes a little over 325hp but aftermarket parts are expensive and is it really worth it or u can go lsx and itll be half the price and parts are easy avaiable mmmm...hard descision

Yeah, just don't EVER pop the hood, you'll be fine. A Mopar guy sees it and he may feel compelled to "liberate" your car from an abusive owner.

I say go with a 6.1 (or bigger) hemi or a Mopar small block. Just thinking about if you wanna sell it someday, plus the unknowns (oil pan clearance, motor mounts, steering clearance etc..)....
