A Good Place for "How-To" PT information

Does anybody know a good place to go for "how to" information for the instalation of aftermarket suspension parts or vehicle modification on a 1st Generation Camaro.

Sites, magazines, and many books include information on how to rebuild a stock Camaro suspension, and some threads on this site are just a little to much over my head. Rather than waste everyone's time here asking stupid questions I would rather find a site and read up.

I always found the best way to learn something is to do it... just taking something apart and "playing with it" will teach you more than a dozen books.

Just keep notes and write down how everything went back together, you would be surprised how much fun taking something apart just to figure out how it works really is.

Sorry I don't have any sites to provide.

      I just wanted to comment.

No question is stupid and almost everyone that has had an interest in building a Pro-Touring car has asked this exact same question.

There's a lot of factors to consider ... the size of your wallet, are you concerned with keeping the present (or close to it) quality of ride, do you want to stay with a stock configured suspension or deviate from that (stock front sub, coils, LCA, rear leafs ... to aftermarket sub, coilovers or air, tubular arms, etc.), wheels and tires, steering, drivetrain, and the like. What's cool is that each P-T car is unique and a lot of these modifications can be done by you if you have the tools, equipment, and wrenching skills.

My main advice is keep the car fun to drive and don't create something that is built for a single purpose. The goal is to have a car you can use for cruises, car shows, perhaps an autocross, yet be able to get into and out of parking lots without leaving half of the car behind.

Either here or on TeamCamaro, you'll find a wealth of information for your build.

      Good luck,

Agreed. The only time I get upset is when people don't take the time to search to find the answer to an easy question. Other than that, I enjoy trying to help answer and ask stupid questions lol.

It does make it a lot harder to figure out what you NEED for your first gen when there are soooooo many options out there.

Although I guess that is better than NO options....
