CANCELLED!! The PT.com Farm Field Classic at Buttonwillow Raceway Park on March 22

      EDIT:

Since we on the Left Coast have longed for an event like Gingerman or RTTH, here's our chance. It won't be as well organized or have official events, but it will be a blast. It's time for the first annual Pro-Touring.com Farm Field Classic at Buttonwillow Raceway Park on March 22, 2010. Why Farm Field? Well, come to the track and find out!

As noted below the NCRC is the host for the event. For Track Day first timers there is a mandatory novice class which includes classroom time and ride-alongs. It's a great way to learn track etiquette and the do's and don't of driving your car on the track. There will also be a bunch of regulars that can help you out.

For accomodations the Motel 6 in Buttonwillow is the usual place to stay. I believe there is a Red Roof in as well. Motel 6 is about $42/night with tax the last time I was there.

Buttonwillow also has garages available for rent. I usually rent a garage and leave the car in it the night before the event. They are plenty big enough for two cars, as Penny and my car spent a scandalous night together in one. For $75 it's a great deal. Just watch out for scorpions on the floor.

Reservations for the NCRC and hotels is all on your own. As the time gets closer we may try to have some kind of dinner get-together.

The original post is as follows:

Hear Ye! Hear Ye! In the true spirit of pro-touring and psychotic addictions, I hereby throw out there for your perusal the date of March 22 for a communal hit off the proverbial crack pipe, better known as TRACK DAY!

The NCRC http://www.ncracing.org/index.php is having an open track event on March 22 at Buttonwillow. For those that could not attend this event back in October it was a great day for everyone and the price is fantastic for what you get. Given that it is on a Monday it makes the front-end work logistics easier for those travelling the day before.

Registration is not yet available, but it's good to plan now so that everyone can get ready on time.

      What say you?

James and Steve your both going to keep Mary and David hopping. If it sweetens the deal with David and Mary I can help them out. I have security a trailer for my car and possiblily a helper too. I will be working on my friend to get him to bring out his new Camaro.

Time to start looking for seats, belts, and a harness bar for my Chevelle.

Maybe I'll be ready by then! Will they have a driving school that day or open track only? Anyone in the bay area or there-abouts with an extra spot on the trailer? I'll pitch in for gas!

If it's your first time at the track the beginner class with classroom instruction is mandatory. There should also be plenty of NCRC instructors available for ride-alongs, or you can get someone from our group who's brave enough.

We're rebuilding the front suspension on the Chevelle. This should be perfect timing!!! We're in and add my brother Dan with the Corvette.

oooooooh. Wonder if my binge shopping of parts will be complete in time?

      Have ordered:

-AFX spindles (not really ordered, more like on the list for the next batch supposedly shipping in February)
      -SPC upper arms
      -SPC lower arms
      -C5 front brakes
      -Rushforth rims & tires

Probably won't have time to figure out my clutch problems but as long as I take it easy I should be good.

That would be good - I'd hate to witness another brutal destruction of a nice set of front tires.

Looking at those tires, I'd bet they screamed a lot.

Wow. If we get a group this big to show up it will be one heck of a great day!

Oh, and does anyone see something a bit off with the list? Not one non-GM vehicle. Come on, someone must have another brand that can make it around the track!

Dave and I will have to make a good showing being the only A-bodies representing. I am workin on the friend who wants to come with me to bring his 2010 Camaro (not likely) or his old daily driver a 1992 Mustang LX that I used for some suspension development.
