lol no im not road racing it but I do off road with it and i range from 2200 to around 7800 rpms with a stock block with stock internals with over 320,000 miles on it and the worst thing that has happend was a blown out water pump gasket otherwise its been fine and I drive it everyday...when this motor comes out of my bronco its getting torn down and sent out to be magnafluxed and acid bathed, followed by a nice bore and then im stroking it to a 331 with around 11.2.1 comp and its gunna be all motor for now
12-19-2009 #24how are you estimating the horsepower/torque you'll be making? what cylinder head and cam are you planning to use? if you have a heavily ported aluminum head flowing around 300 cfm on the intake / 240 cfm on the exhaust at 0.6" lift and a cam with .550-.6 lift with at least 230-240 deg duration at 0.05 lift you'll be at that
525-550 hp level depending also on induction and hedder.
For high rpm, high load NA applications like American Iron, I've found that Paul's Automotive has had better luck with a 4-bolt conversion to a stock block compared to the old Motorsport R blocks. they had customers cracking these R blocks with some regularity (engines that run 6000-7500 rpm all race long at high power) and they are now going several seasons with 4-bolt converted stock blocks with no problems.89 Supercharged Saleen 352 rwhp, 93 Mustang LX 347 stroker 420 rwhp daily driver, 78 Firebird, 69 Opel Kadett Rallye ex-SCCA track car..."everyone needs to own a 4-bbl 4 cylinder once"
