      Tranny clearance with speedtech frame

I have heard that the motor sits lower with the speedtech frame.
I will be mocking up soon(ls1 with 4l60e)and wanted to know if I will need to order another tunnel to raise mine.(if I need to raise it I will be using a strip out of another tunnel so it looks factory).one more question,If I make room for a 4l60e will a t-56 fit or is it bigger,Thanks.

If the motor sits lower than stock, there shouldn't be any problems.

the motor sits as low as possible the oil pan (ATS or Autokraft) is about 3/8 above the rack and it is off set to the passanger side 3/4" to clear the powersteering fitting on the rack. you should have no issues fitting the transmssion

      same height

Rodger at speedtech told my shop guy that the motor sits at the same height(or very close to it), just a little to the side.I will have to cut the tunnel to fit the bigger tranny.Do you agree,or did you think I was talking about something else?

if i recall the 4l60 is about the same size as a 700r4??? and we just did an install in Rogers car with a BBC and 700r4 and it fit just fine
      http://www.tciauto.com/Products/TechInfo/trans_dims.asp
check the link to see all the dimentions
the 93-95 4l60 dimentions are identical to the 700r4
so i would say NO cutting required!!

It all depends on what T56 you are using - If you are using the Viper T56 you might need to make more room. Viper tranny has the viper logo on the side of the gearbox......

i agree we did one with a lakewood bell housing and it needed the tunnel cut and raised up. but i think????? if you were to use a Quicktime of stock chevy bell you may be close. the t56 is a pretty big trans up top with the three inspection covers and top mounted internal rail shifter???
