      Looking for suspension advice

      What is a nice affordable option to balance the stance out on my ride. The back is setting pretty good IMO but the front seems to be a little higher than the rear. Also the back is lower on the passenger side than the driver so I am going to add new shocks to the rear and just hope it doesn't jack the rear up too high! Would Hotchkiss lowering springs do the trick?

      my 73 is lower on pass side in back than drivers ..common on these years..i have global west on front of mine with coilovers and like em so far..

      Hotchkis springs would be a great choice.

      shocks should not affect your ride hight unless your leaf springs are bad, as for the difference in height from one side to the other you may not be able to correct that, the GM service book calls for 3/4"+/- from one side to the other, you could put a lowering spacer on the high side as last resort

      I have a 71 camaro and had the same problem. Cut original springs but the ride was horrible and the springs settled too low at the end of all that effort. I went with QA-1 system and the ride, adjustibilty and easy install was all worth it. the shocks are adjustible too. For the money, you can't beat it. only issue i had was going with the wrong weight selection of springstahe are offered. i have a small block no a/c 5speed. Springs come in 250,350,450 and 550 pound ratings. i read an article in hot rod that had same set up and they went with 350 pd springs. installed the 350 pd ones but was too light for my set up so i went with 450 and they were perfect.

      Looks like you've got a nice clean 2nd Gen. A good set of springs will even out your ride height, and if you pair them with high-quality sway bars and shocks you'll have a car with a sporty yet comfortable ride, a killer (even) stance and kickass handling. We now have a few different ride height options, including a 1.5-inch drop with our standard sport springs and stock arms, or we have new Autocross springs that when paired with our extra drop front autocross a-arms drop the car nearly 3-inches. Mary's car has the latter.

      I'd avoid air shocks...they support too much of the car's weight on the shock mounts, and I don't think GM designed the shock mounts for that. The correct springs are a better choice. remember the lower you go, the more spring rate you will need to keep the car off the tires and headers off the pavement....once you get below factory ride height, the factory rate spring won't be able to keep the car from rubbing the tires and ground.
      1970 RS/SS350 139K on the clock:
      89 TPI motor w/ 1pc rear seal coupled to a Viper T56 via Mcleod's modular bellhousing w/ hydraulic T/O bearing from the Viper, 12 bolt rear w/ 3.73 gearing, SC&C upper control arms, factory lowers with Delalums, C5 brakes at all four corners, Front Wheels 17x8's with Sumi 255/40/17 and Rear Wheels 17x9's with Sumi 275/40/17.

      it's a fine line between performance, ride quality and stance if you look at our GT kit you will find that it fits the bill very well, here's a video of a Camaro taking second place at an autocross at only it's second event at it's first event the car took 3rd place one day after the suspnsion was installed!!!!!!!!! that's out of the box performance!

      Hey thanks for the props Dave.

      The GT-kit is an amazing set up that seems to fit a wide useage of cars, As for your issue, I would replace all springs if they are original, do front and rear as a set that are designed to work together. I would look at your subframe bushings as an issue. Give 79/ta man a call or visit his site, I use his parts on ALL my builds, and performance is great, and price is hard to beat.

      First off are you trying to make a canyon carver or are you just trying to make car sit level?We have done many f-bodies at our shop, from street,auto cross & all the way to vintage car racing.let me know what your goal is and I'll try to throw you some ideas your way that wont empty the wallet,james
