      BBC head help

While replacing my manifold I noticed 1/4 " deep threaded holes in half of my intake runners on the heads. Obviously these were engineered this way but seem like quite a deep hole to collect fuel and disrupt air flow somewhat.
I considered using a longer bolt to extend more up into runner but measured below where bolt entered and would be tricky to pull it off. Not to mention getting any kind of wrench there.

Question: do you think filling with something like epoxy would hold up? Needless to say I don't want anything coming out and into valve area. This isn't a race engine so not really that worried about squeezing every last horsepower out.

If it's good enough for the general, then it's good enough for me.

I wouldn't worry about it, its pretty standard. Without a flow bench you might actually make the flow worse by filling them in.

Make sure that you seal them

The bolt holes don't disturb the air flow at all, I know this from flowing BBChevs for the last 30 years, that might make me sound like a old fart but I am still actively building Pro Stock engines.
One thing you need to do is to seal the threads with a thread sealer such as a paste teflon sealer or gaskesinch or as a last resort use silicone. it is important to seal these threads because vacuum in the intake port will try to suck oil into the port from the lifter valley. If it will make you feel better it won't hurt anything to fill the holes with silicone after the heads are bolted on and smooth the silicone with a wet finger.
