Did the adjuster nuts come with it ? usually any hp cam will benefit from a stud girdle, if you have a solid lifter cam they can be a little tricky when lashing the valves, with some persistance you will learn the tricks of doing it, you have more leeway with a hyd cam. The other thing to check is to see if the valve cover is tall enough for the girdle to fit, install one side and just get everything close and then set the cover on and check for fitment

Lots of it depends on the motor. Valvetrain geometry can differ quite a bit.

Jomar is one of the originators of the SBC stud girdle and is considered to be one of the best, the design and distribution rights of this model where bought by Moroso. The sloted screw should be tightened as much as possible and then finish tightening by giving the adjuster nut a slight turn to really lock it up tight, this will take a little bit of practice to have the correct lash set by the time you have the nut tightened but is worth the effort. By the time you have mastered this you will truely be one step closer to being old skool ! Rocker arm geometry is a total separate issue, a girdle will help the stability of the valve train whether or not the geometry is correct.
