      Let's talk LS7

So.. what's the concensus on using the LS7 block for a build? I've heard some stroke it 4.100" and make a 440, but I'm not sure the sleeves are long enough for that.

What's the max safe bore you can go? I would think that even at the same 427 cui dispalcent there's a ton of potential with the right heads, something like a 235cc AFR or Trick Flow.

I'm thinking I want more displacement for more low and midrange torque. Just exploring ideas right now.

      Thoughts?

No, don't want to hassle it.. the Canton wetsump deal has been working great for me.

The hassle would be making the LS7 drysump pan clear my rack. I don't need that headache. A wetsump is a direct swap.

LOL...if mine blows, I'm going 540 so don't feel to bad. I know you probably don't want the weight, but what about the LSX block. Can't you get them to almost 500 inches?

      Weight bad... torque good...

If I put an iron block in my car I might as well go back to leaf springs.. lol

Why not go LS3? Few changes and it equals the LS7 with out the cost. Also isn't the LS3 block stronger?

Just seems like such a small move in displacement.. from 402 LS2 to at 408 LS3?

The LS3 block is stonger, but since I'm not supercharging or thowing on a big nitrous kit I doubt it matters.

It is not the displacement, it is the superior head flow.

But couldn't you put LS3 heads on an LS7 and have both?

Steve, if you want more torque why not put a blower on your current motor and drop the compression? Could probably save you a bundle of $$$.

Part of me want's a blower.. but for the most part I like the NA route.. far more reliable and "simplistic" which has always been my goal with this car.

I suppose I could get an LS3 and stroke it..

Hey, here's a question.. what if my I put my LS2 stroker assembely into the LS3? hmmm.. Too bad the bore is bigger (4.06 compared to 4.005).. the crank and rods should work though.

I just like to consider this stuff.. I never really consider my car "done".. what fun is there in that?

I was researching since we are putting one in the Project American Heroes Chevelle...

I was tempted a bit on mine but then common sense took over.

Did you see the combo on ebay? Looks like a good deal.
