      Photography backdrops/settings......

I have always wondered how to go about arranging a photo-op with a fighter/bomber/attack helicopter as a background for a classic car? I have a friend that flew B-52's over Afganistan and Iraq and has recently retired, but I haven't asked him what contacts or pull he might have. The B-52 is HUGE and wouldn't be an optimal choice I wouldn't guess considering the differences in size. But an Apache or F-18 would be SWEEeeeT, and I won't even imagine an F-22. The P-51 is another sexy option, but maybe harder to find.

Anybody ever thought of a way to have this done or had it done?

we have a p-51 here at our air port that you can hire for rides. I'm sure you could check with your local air field you might be able to ask to see what kinds of air crafts are there and set up something for a photo opt.

Call the Press / PR officer at your local AFB / Army Airfield and see what they can do for you.

This is an easy way for them to score points with the local community, so they might be surprisingly obliging, especially if you can get a few fellow car buffs (at least assuming you're not asking them to take pics next to the Aurora http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread60763/pg1).

I have actually done this... although the shots were never taken.

A local air field has a hanger full of old WWII planes and have a standing offer to shoot cars there whenever I want

Could also look for some type of memorial park or something? There's a park here that has multiple planes, a Battleship (USS Alabama) and a Submarine (USS Drum). There's also a small Vietnam memorial in Orlando near UCF that has a couple Helicopters, Tanks, Planes, etc...

That said, its been a few years since I last lived in So Flo, so if there are any memorial type parks down there, nothing's racking my brain. Maybe do some snooping around Tamiami and the North Perry Airport and see if you can find anyone who has such a plane. I remember seeing a P51 at North Perry a while ago (5 years), so not sure if he's still around.

I know Tamiani is where the coast guard is stationed and their orange rescue helicopter would look awesome now that you brought it to mind. A P-51 at North Perry sounds promissing, I never knew there was one there!

The memorial parks might work in a bind, but in most instances the static display aircraft give off an unused/inoperable look.

I was thinking that post 9/11 maybe they would be so accomodating, but maybe your right. I'll just ask and see what happens.

The Blackhawk would be my choice for a Coast Guard background. They've also got C-130's, which are just as cool, IMHO. Maybe sweet talk them and load the car in to the loading bay for some opportune shots? Opa-Locka usually has a C-130 hanging around.

I make no promises on that P51 still being there. It was a while ago, and could have easily been in for an extended maintenance/repair or something.

Does anyone here know any good Air Fields in Massachusetts that may offer this type of photo-op? The name of the car is Air Force Blues so it would be very fitting!!!
