They do. It's called, "TOP GEAR" and it's on every Monday night on BBC-America.

NBC cast one and shot a pilot and a couple of episodes. They canned it. It would have sucked....bad.

Did you see the S.F./Bonneville episode? The producers couldn't get a Challenger from Dodge because Dodge was afraid of a bad review. So Top Gear went out and bought one on their own...they ended up really digging it. But the point is that because the show is produced by the BBC they don't have to kiss advertisers a$$ and say nice things at the risk of losing advert dollars.

Produce this show within the business model of network TV and it would blow. Every time they said something bad about a car Chevy would threaten to pull their ads from the Superbowl or something and go downhill from there. Besides that, they would be reticent to review cars that are not available in the US and would be under the thumb of the PC police to say good stuff about "green" cars and pay less attention to tire/dino burning uber-hp absolute nutter cars.

      The UK version is great.

They did a TOP Gear Australia. Sucked. Problem is TG is all about the personalities (Clarkson, Hammond and May). They tried to put in 3 dudes similar (ie older outspoken, younger / left field and conservative). It just didn't work.

Just keep pouring the $$ into Top Gear UK and get them to do more stuff globally, they have done stuff in the US, Japan, South Africa and Australia they need to do more of that sort of stuff.

Did the American version ever air on TV? I don't recall seeing any advertisement for it.

No, it never saw the light of day. I know a guy who was in the audience when the pilot was shot. He said awkward was an understatement.

      The cast was
      Adam Carola as Jeremy Clarkson
      Tanner Faust as Richard Hammond
Eric Stromer as Captain Slow (James May)

Had it made it to air it would have sucked worse than The Magic Johnson show and the Chevy Chase Show combined.

That was awesome!! I love this show and have no desire for an "American" version.

At first I was going... "uh where is the corvette part?" Then the whole shopping mall scene comes in and gets me laughing good. Then the beach assault? I love how over the top this show is sometimes.

yeah i know, at first i was just gonna put the mall scene but i found its better if you see the whole buil up to that part, and yes, the beach assault was great,

On the net you have Garage 419 and Fastlane daily. Perhaps something different is needed. The BBC's commercial position is unprecedented therefore a new approach is needed. All you need are some new ideas, some contacts and let the vision grow.
Is there room or a demand for "Pro Touring TV"!?
Starring all the worlds old cars made new, with Larry as the god father and maybe AJ from Overhaulin' or Vicki Butler-Henderson from 5th Gear to add a bit of erotic to the exotics, or should that be the other way round.

True but you have to start somewhere. 20 years ago it was nothing like it is now. Its was on its own. Its now has a massive budget as well. 5th gear is it's main competitor and sometimes has one or two interesting articles. eg.

I searched a list of episodes since the 2002 relaunch of the show and didn't find anything definitive but it could be Series-5, Episode-8 or Series-7, Episode-6.

I'll keep looking....I want to see it too.
