      DIF Electric Fan Controller?

Is anyone familiar with the pwm Variable Speed Universal Fan Controller from http://www.diftech.com/? After trying (and failing) multiple times to get in touch with DC Control, I am thinking maybe I should give this thing a try.

It sounds like it could be a great controller for the Mark VIII fan:
      * Can handle up to 60 Continuous Amps
      * Varies from 20% to 100% fan speed based on temp signal from an EFI-style sending unit
      * Rolls power on and off to put less strain on fan and electrical system

What's not to like (assuming it is all true)?

I am interested in seeing which temp sender I can get to screw into a small-block RPM Air-Gap manifold, and if anyone is familiar with the product (or company).

      Thanks,

      Wayne

From what I was reading it looks like you can choose the speed, it does not do it automatically. That's what I see. They say it has an adjustable turn on temperature.

Wayne isn’t a very common name and I've checked to see if someone named Wayne has emailed me at dccontrol.com in the past year. I’ve only received one, and that was today. I email people back, usually the same day. The one exception to that would be dealer inquiries, which I don't have any interest in.

My last inquiry was sent on 12/03/2008 at 4:40 pm (cst), to [email protected] Is that the wrong email address? If you replied it doesn't appear to have ever made it to me.

      Thanks for the feeback GetMore,

The description says "The DIF pwm fan controller solves this problem by turning the fans on initially at the minimum speed required to keep the engine cool and increasing the speed as required" I was thinking that sounded like it varies the speed automatically. I sent their tech line a question.

The fact that it requires a powered 2-wire sending unit throws me off a little. I guess the EFI sending units have output voltage that varies from 0-5 volts to indicate temp. I'm not sure how I would power one of those (will have to do some research I guess).

It's the correct email address, but I don't have anything for that time and date, I checked my filtered junk mail in case thunderbird filtered it, but it's too old to check my isp junk email box.

I thought PWM went out of business years ago. I have one in my Camaro and I LOVE it. I can't get the link above to work. I assume you were able to view a site?

Sorry, I have one by PSM. Wrong company but I still love it. It didn't click that pwm is pulse width modulation. What I have is a PWM type unit from PSM.

      Dallas Malibu,
Did you ever try the pwm controller you mentioned?

I have Mark VIII fan, more specifically F8LH 8C607 AA, off a 98 Mark VIII. It has the plastic inspection cover above the wiring harness, which as I understand makes this a single speed fan. I am looking for a controller and am looking at all my options. I have looked at DCC's product line and can't figure out which of the products will best suite my needs. I am also open to other suggestions. And since I have been unable to contact DCC for assistance, I would greatly appreciate the input of the rest of the Pro-Touring community.

Sorry for the late reply. It's white epoxy and still holding up well. I'm running a pair of large Spal's and I'm probably lucky it's still working.

I have to say that after I got the right info from Brian and got the capacitors I needed my problems are solved. The system works as flawlessly as it has for others and am glad I didn't get discouraged and ditch it.

The coolest thing is how the waterpump continues to cool the engine after it is off and you don't have to deal with a thing.
