Just about ready to start shipping the 68-74 Nova TigerCages. Here are some installation photos.

What kind of price is one looking at for the set-up that is pictured?

The base cage (main hoop, deck lid bars & trunk bars) retails for $2500. Road race style door bars (shown) $900/pair. Drag race style door bars (straight) $400/pair. Shoulder harness bar $300. 5 point Camlock safety harness w/ the ridetech logo on it, $150/person.

Some of the images show some of the bracket painted black, but on the production pieces everything inside the car will be stainless. The reinforcement brackets under the car will be powdercoated black. Follow this link for more information.

I assume that your 65 Chevelle will be the same as our 66. We will know more in a few weeks though.

Here are some more install photos.....

Front Door Bar mount- Connects to the horizonal plane of the floor bar (with a reinforment plate under the car) and to the vertical plane of the kick panel (with reiforcment plates inside the kick panel).


......with door bar attached.


Main hoop floor mount- Fastens to the floor pan and quater panel structure. Uses reinforcement plates inside the quarter and under the car. The under car plate also ties into the body seam.


Trunk bar- Attaches to the vertical and horizonal planes of the package tray.


Package tray bar- Attaches to trunk bar through the top of the package tray. You can also see the reinforcement plate for the trunk bar.

Do you guys think this will approved for cars running quicker than 11.50 in the quater? I would asume that the chevelle one would fit a 70 lemans. How much does this cage weigh?

We are still working on certifications.

We are hoping the that the Chevelle cage will work on all of the A bodies. We will know more within the next couple months tho.

With the road race door bars and shoulder harness, about 130lbs complete. Hardware, clamps, brackets.....everything.

I am currently working with Carl Olsen at SFI and Joe Timney at ECTA on certification criteria. Its a slow process...they have to start from scratch because nothing substantial exists at this point.

When we get SFI certification [at whatever level] you'll hear it here first!

Can I quantify the exact amount of chassis strength increase? Nope, not yet. Nor can anyone with subframe connectors or a weld-in rollbar/rollcage [that I know of].
But I am working on that.

In the meantime we have concentrated on interfacing with the structeral strength points of each application. In general we pick up the A pillar/toeboard/floorboard area, the B pillar/rocker panel/floorboard area, the rear package tray [in both the horizontal and the vertical planes], and the rear framerail/trunk floor area. In the real world this makes the car drive more solid, more predictably, and with less rattles and creaks than an identical car without the TigerCage.

We intend to demonstrate this at the Costa Mesa Goodguys show next weekend with Popular Hotrodding's G28 Camaro. Johnny Hunkins is going to run the car through the autocross a few times before we install the TigerCage and then make a few runs after the installation. I'm not sure it will prove anything [except maybe that the car will not spontaneously combust], but it will be a great opportunity for the guys in Southern California to see how the TigerCage is installed and how it interfaces with the rest of the car. You will also witness Johnny Hunkins getting his hands dirty [we'll have video for the guys who cant attend].

The production shoulder harness bars are adjustable for position. I chose to mount mine low so my kids could still ride in the back seat. Most people will wnat the bar moved up to around the top of the seat back or a little lower.

We have my 70 Buick GSX on the rack right now getting fitted with a TigerCage. We should have the unit done in another 2 weeks and ready to ship about 30 days after that. It should ship around the end of April.

Next up should be the 66-67 Chevelle.
