The T-5 can be built to take quite a pounding with the correct gearset, but there is a limit. For the cost of building a t-5, you can get pretty close to TKO territory. As far as factory boxes go, the ford version is rated for a max of 330 ft-lb, if memory serves and the GM boxes go as high as 300. If you go T-5, get a world class, avoid V6 and Jeep boxes due to much steeper ratios, and have it looked at, specifically at third gear and the shift forks. For more info go the 5speeds.com

The bolt pattern is incorrect as is the input shaft length. The Ford version input is 7.250" and the GM version is 6.5". You can use an adpater plate to get the correct bolt pattern and if it's thick enough, it'll cure the difference in input shaft lengths at the same time.

i looked at the T5's for a long time trying to decide. in the end I'm going to get a brand new TKO instead of trying to build a T5 that MIGHT survive. i'm not saying a T5 couldn't be used, but for a couple hundred bucks more, i'd rather have the peace of mind of a purpose built box.
