C5 Corvette spindle arms with dropped steering arms?

Does anyone know if such an animal exists? For my project we're going to need to lower the steering rack a couple of inches and we'll need to lower the steering arm on the spindle arm to match. As you can see here it comes out in line with the hub assembly, and I need one that will put it 2 to 3 inches lower. I'd prefer one that is not a drop spindle as the ride height is being built to where I want it with stock parts. It can be adjusted if necessary but I'd prefer that not be needed.

Yes, aftermarket companies like Hotchkis, Speedtech, and UMI offer C5 Corvette spindle arms with dropped steering arms or adjustable steering arms that can accommodate your needs.

The image is from this thread I found via google:
      https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...les-on-c3.html

I’ve seen a number of bolt on arms, mostly from companies using the OE knuckle and making a steering arm to fit their design.

None of these companies make this. Does anyone know where those dropped arms came from?

Roadster shop, DSE, Morrison all have some version of that steering arm. I would be surprised if any of them will sell the just the arm but their (RS and DSE) spindles/uprights should be a direct fit for the OPs application.

Thanks. I'll take a look and see what they're willing to do. At the moment, the plan is for the shop to use the existing spindles, chop off the steering arms and make a set to bolt on. They've done this a few times in the past, but it's always better to use a built for purpose part than a modified part.

Did you find any arms that bolt on to the C5 spindles. I made my own adapter but the arms I had to use an are a straight 5/8 bore. Name: IMG_4829.jpg

No. The plan is still for the shop to chop and weld my existing spindle arms.

Here is your best option. It took me a very long time to get these part numbers. And I have their front suspension under my car. Lol. You will have to go through the tech department at Detroit Speed to order these. The sales people won’t know the part numbers and they are not in any of their parts catalogs.

9309001 and 9309002 These are for the left and right bolt on steering arms. You will need the bolts for for them too. The taper will match their tie rod ends.

Let me know how it works out. It’s hard to believe that all the manufacturers keep such a tight wrap on these arms. I bet they could sell a ton of them if they advertised them and helping others be much safer too.

How long ago did you purchase those arms?

When they were still under the Holley umbrella, those were unavailable by themselves and had to buy the whole upright to get the arms.

With the popularity of C5 setups, there aren't any companies that make extended length ball joint or heim tie rod ends?

Thanks TBill, that information is now on my project sheet. However, while I apprecate the information I doubt I'll use them. Since this is such a one-off project I'm still going to go with the shop modified spindle arms. All I'm concerned with at the moment is the shop getting the truck lined out and back into my hands, and welded steer arms gets me that. As long as the welded piece allows for everything to work correctly, with full articulation and no bump steer, I'll be happy with it.

Before the truck hits the road though, I'll compare the measurements with the previously listed parts. If none will work, I'll take the modified spindle arms to a CNC shop and use them as a model for a new set. Cut and weld will be fine to get it back to my shop, but not for the road.

I just received that information last week. I have been trying to buy them for years but couldn’t get anywhere. And maybe you still can’t get them. But maybe having a serial numbered clip with your name associated with it might make a difference. Don’t know. I just didn’t want to see someone trying to drive something on the road with a welded on arm. Which I’m glad he verified that wasn’t happening.

Ehh, I get tunnel vision sometimes. I've been so focused on getting my frame done and truck back that it's almost become the end game itself.
