      LSA Cam selection advice

Hi Gang, I've got an LSA nestled in my 1969 Camaro (stock ZL1 spec at the moment 580hp) and getting closer to fire up time, however, I'm looking for some angrier lope in the near future.

I used to run an absolutely raucous sounding 496BBC, wicked idle (high lift cam 106 LSA - not that I expect to mimic this with a boosted car) and would like to retain some tough soundtrack

My radar is set at a Lingenfelter GT14 cam - but just curious if anyone knows whether my yearning for classic muscle-car angry idle is costing HP vs the more subtle cam offerings?

Since I'm only chasing ~700-750hp (flywheel) I don't suspect it should matter too much - but since this is a global monster of a forum it's always cool to see if there's any tried / tested theories.

I still would like to track the car, so don't see much point in chasing much more HP ( unless you guys are putting the power down with more )

Additional build notes - Ultimate Headers / vaporworx fuel setup / TR6060 / E67 PCM / Injectors also to be upgraded prior to cam package installed

      Cheers for any feedback

      Justin

You could also consider the BTR PD Blower Series of Cams. Most people use either the Stage 2 or 3. They are proven power makers. The CTS-V Forums or the ZL1 Forum and Camaro5.com have a lot of information concerning camshaft selection. Are you also installing larger diameter crank pulley or smaller diameter blower pulley to increase boost?

Thanks for the feedback David, and for the other forum links
Yes, at this stage I'm looking at a 10" crank pulley as well, crazy not to tap into the easy gains.
I have noticed the BTR PD Blower cams seem very popular - must be for good reason huh

      Justin,

      Lt1z over on ctsvowners.com is a LSA
cam guru Here is a link to his cam descriptions. I went with his Stage 3 for a choppy idle Happy reading! Hopefully the link will work even though you're not a member over there??

This might be beneficial too, as you consider different pulley combos. I ended up going with a 2.55/8.66 combo since I didn't need a different idler pulley and also it is on the edge of recommend blower speed

I am thinking about doing 2.55/9.1 combo on mine. Just over the recommended blower speed, but there are plenty of people doing it.

What is everyone using as their heat exchanger water pump?

Lingenfelter has a good pump its looks to be slightly better than the ZL1 or CTS-V but not as good as the ZR1.

If would look on ebay for either the factory ZL1 or Lingenfelter they come up from time to time.

Thanks LonnieJ, 2 x great links - thank you for sharing them. The cam comparo was great, especially since I'd like to retain that tough muscle lope, minimum stage 3 for me

Also just as great was the pulley combo chart - illustrates different routes to achieve similar boost goals - absolute gold!
