08-09 Tahoe 6.0 good or bad engine. Help please

Found a 6.0 on Craigslist from a 08-09 Tahoe with 65k complete asking 2,300$. Has the 243 heads. With that said I have found that these year tahoe engines had a problem. " #Pip4525a " http://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/threa...bearing.55799/ . Anyone know if this is a motor I should stay away from or get it for a 1970 camaro swap? Been loosing sleep over this deal help me ha-ha

Link appears to have problem as well. $2,300 sounds like a lot, but maybe I'm wrong. Whether or not it's a good deal depends on what your plans for it are and what you are prepared to do to it to make it work. Isn't that error just for the hybrids though, something about a bad cam bearing? Regardless, an aluminum 6.0 sounds cool but might not be worth the risk. Wouldn't lose any more sleep over it, it's just a motor and they are making more every day.

I've heard those motors have cam bearing issues but not until 150k+ miles or so. If you ever plan on doing a cam swap you could swing the shortblock by a machine shop to have them install new bearings for the new cam. But i agree with what chuckd71 said, sounds like quite a bit of cash for a 6.0.

Here in the north west everything LS is high vs easy side. Sucks. But with that said this setup also come with a th400.

The heads have been swapped at some point as the 6.0s all came with 317 heads using a bigger chamber than the 243s.

Is it possible that the engine is really a 5.3 as those did receive the 243 heads from the factory?

6.0 did come with the 243 and 799 heads. It's a 6.0 243 stock factory setup. I don't think I'm going ls at this time. Looking to do a AFR head swap on the 350 in the car now and drive it..... We

      6.2

In 08 and 09 wouldn't that be a gen IV 5.3 in a Tahoe? I think the suburbon 3/4 ton may have had the bigger motor but even then it would have been a 6.2L. The 6.2L is in the Denali and Esclade but I don't think it was offered in the Tahoe...

243 are vette heads the 799 are the same casting with different hardware using in 5.3 trucks I believe.

The only 6.0L with 243 heads in 08 would have been a Trailblazer SS. Like the others said for a stock setup that is quite a bit of money but frankly I'm not sure what you are buying??

I have noticed here near Chicago the LS prices are high, can't touch a 6.0L for under a grand and they all have over 150k miles. Even the 5.3 are going for $750 with high miles. I would think around Chicago there would be a pretty good choice of LS motors to keep the price down.
