      Speedtech is going ExtReme...

If you haven't heard the buzz yet, Speedtech Performance has pulled out all the stops in moving forward on a quest after the best suspension geometry on the market. Teamed up with Ron Sutton we've conquered the challenge to develop an industry first suspension that works fantastically in low, mid, and high travel strategies, and has killer geometry numbers across the board. Intended to push the Pro Touring world to the next level, this suspension is designed to allow up to 315mm tires up front and takes full advantage of that huge contact patch! Check out this official press release copied below, and feel free to ask any questions, we and Ron are happy to share more insight and specifics...

"Looking for the Best of the Best? Search no longer! Through years of street and track testing our products, Speedtech Performance has taken all we've learned and invited veteran road race chassis builder Ron Sutton to join in creating a totally new, hardcore Pro Touring suspension. The exciting result is our new line of "ExtReme" chassis products.

Using the latest in computer simulation, all aspects of this suspension's geometry were calculated and tested until the best possible numbers were achieved. Said Ron, "This design makes this the best handling, steering & driving suspension available, an upgrade from frankly any chassis or subframe in the Pro Touring market today.”

Featuring an industry first, we've achieved optimum roll center for low, mid and high travel strategies. Our frame's rack location and new ATS forged-in-the-USA ExtReme tall spindle provide optimum Ackerman with up to 30 degrees of steering angle using 315 mm wide tires! This combination provides reduced KPI/SAI angle, significantly less scrub radius, achieves optimum tire slip-angles, requires less caster for optimum tire contact patch and increases front tire grip up to 20%. Increased shock length has 0.78 motion ratio for faster response, precise control and more suspension travel with virtually ZERO bump steer - .005” throughout full travel range!

What does this all mean to you? Whether you're on the street or at the track, you'll have a better handling and better riding vehicle than has ever been achieved before. Production of the C10 chassis is ready to go and the Chevelle, Camaro, Nova, and Tri 5's are right behind. Learn more about this incredible suspension for C10s, Camaros, Chevelles, Novas and Tri-5s by calling 435-628-4300 or Clicking Here. You can see our ExtReme products in person this year at SEMA 2015, booth # 72004."

We have lots of ideas on the R&D board. So far Ford trucks are a real good possibility, and we're wanting to have a universal front clip that can be grafted into most anything. The suspension is designed to accept a pretty deep backspace, so for the narrower cars like early Mustangs, Falcons, Novas, Datsun Z cars, etc. would have a more positive offset wheel while the same suspension in maybe a Torino or Fairlane could swallow a deeper negative offset. The C10 frame is done, the Camaro/Nova subframe is well underway, and the Chevelle and Tri5 frames are a good ways done too. Once those all hit production we can explore other possibilities.

I think a big ol Speedtech sticker on the Camaro and a bunch of new suspension goodies in the engine bay would look right at home.

Thanks Bill. It will if they're a 64-72. No G body Extreme suspension plans in the works yet, unless all my fellow G body brothers call Blake and whine about it as much as I do, hint hint. lol!

I was watching this along with the No Limit subframe and I'm pretty excited about it too.

Does it increase track width at all in the front? I run almost 1" wider per side now on my 1st gen, which I know is bad for scrub, etc. but I prefer it. Wider is better if the suspension takes advantage of it, right?

Is it meant to work with the Speedtech torque arm rear suspension or are you developing a different rear suspension too?

Good questions '69. It's only changed the width of the rotors wider.

To address your other question, in this case, all the numbers work together to optimize tire contact patch with the track width it is at, and simulation testing shows increases in front tire grip up to 20%. This is the end result we're after, not necessarily specifically the track width measurement. One of our goals in developing the suspension was to tuck 315s and still be able to maintain up to 30 degrees of turning radius with minimal scrub radius.

The subframe bolts in just like a factory or our current "Pro Touring" subframe, so it plays nice with our torque arm.

As much as we like the Mopars Benno, outside of a universal graft it in clip, it may be a bit of a wait. At this point our focus is mostly just GM.

Thanks Ben. Do you see any problems with running a wider track on your subframe? I may need to use a 1/2" to 3/4" spacer, which may push the wheel centerline out that much. I like to keep my tires just inside the edge of the fender.

I like the way it uses a rack - can you give us any details on it?

the hub to hub width will be 60" PLUS the rotor thickness. this gets us to where we need to be. the track width will change based on wheel width and offset obviously, so depending on your wheels combination the scrub should be pretty good.
The Rack will be a Sweet MFG Race unit.(this is the same one a lot of road race guys use it will stand the torture of 315 front tires) We will standardize a ratio probably 1.8 to 1.9" of rack travel per revolution @5" of travel this is 2.6 turns lock to lock. but if a guy wants something quicker we can do that as well. as much as 3.5" of travel per revolution, (SUPER FAST) too fast for any street car

      More info please.......

      Update??

      Any sneak peaks or info?

Will this replace your current subframe or will it be an addition to your line up?

If it replaces, will there be deals on the discontinued subframes?

Pricing, will it be the same price as your current subframe?

As you can tell I am anxious as I will be in the market in the near future.

The design of the frame is moving right along. We had a prototype put together but didn't like the fit so we are changing a couple dimensions and are working on fitting the new one. Such it is chasing perfection. When the prototype is perfect we'll start posting pics.

This new "ExtReme" suspension is pretty hardcore, and will meet the demands of folks that are serious about beating on it at places like optima races. It's intended to out perform even our current "Pro Touring" subframe. With that in mind we will continue to sell the Pro Touring subframe for the guy who has a little smaller budget to work with but wants something a lot better than a factory frame. I think over the years the Pro Touring subframe has proven itself worthy, the new frame is a great example of taking what has done extremely well and taking it to the next level. It's intended for everyone that wants the best on the market and those that want Mary and some of the big boys to see nothing but taillights from their rides. ;) jab jab...

We're still talking about a new pricing structure for both the Pro Touring and Extreme subframe. We've even discussed the possibility of a trade in value for those that already have the P-T and want to upgrade to the Extreme. Nothing is in stone yet but all that info will be available when we hit full production.

The only reason launching a new product like this takes some time is because we want it to meet our claims with no compromises. The main goal for this suspension is to lead the pack so anyone who installs it can have the capability of a winning car. Hang in there I-69, we're working on it daily, we want it out there just as much as all the folks who've got their eye on it.

25%? You'd probably hove to come assemble and weld up your own frame at that price ;) Lol!

Actually we're running an awesome introductory price of only $6899. Now that includes suspension, the new ATS ExtReme spindles, AutoX valved coilovers and a performance rack and pinion steering. If you look at the numbers, that's only about $800 more than our current "Pro Touring" subframe using ATS AFX tall spindles. If you're hard core and want the best handling the $800 will be well worth it.
