Bf Goodrich Rival S Tire Availability

Does anyone care to share the secret to actually getting a set of these. The Tire Rack shows most of the sizes coming in on 5-1-15 but after placing an order today they called and said 90 days for the 315/30/18 I need. I called last week and they said that the shipment would be large and I could get a set but today was the 90 days story. Like a lot of folks on PT.com I need a set of tires for the summers auto-x and USCA season. It makes sense that these tires are in demand right now, but I sure wish there were enough to go around.
I am now looking for an alternative 315/30/18 - 275-40-17 200 treadwear set up.(numbers can change a little to make it work with whats out there) Anybody have the low down on this? Does anyone have a good alternative set up suggestion?

      Thanks for reading,
      James Arnold

Falken RT615K from discount tire direct is your only other option in that size. BFG is only producing the smaller Rival S right now, nobody has the bigger ones.

This is an accurate statement. I am indeed a nobody. And I do have the bigger ones.... 315 and 335... Rival S... took delivery a couple weeks ago. Of course my car won't be running for a couple more months but I wanted to be prepared based on last year's inventory situation with the Rivals.

Where did you get those sizes in the Rival S?

I knew I would get a lot of views with a title like Bf Goodrich Rival S availability and I am still hoping for some good insider information on production numbers and future availability. I think I am going to order a set of Falkens just to get going for now. I have a few auto-x's to go to and I am going to USCA NCM Bowling Green in early June. How many of you like me would order a set of Rivals right now if they were actually available? What do you think about BFG not keeping up with demand and the Tire Rack continuing to list May 1 availability for tires 90 days out?

The bummer is once I spend the $ on a set of Falkens thats it for for my tire budget regardless of what BFG makes available.

Interesting information as I had not heard the S was out. I think you will be happy with the Falkens and will find many folks will be competitive with them. Even so, it will be interesting to see how the S does.

I guess I should have said "Nobody has them... FOR SALE". I am also wondering, where did you get them Dave?

I talked to my sources at BFG and here is my report (in my words, not an official statement from anyone).
      1. Rivals are in production RIGHT NOW!
      2. Due to commitments the smaller sizes are the most popular and therefore the first out the door.
      3. Tire Rack, is the source for Rival and Rival S. By contract, the first people that ordered will be the first people to get tires. So if you are waiting to order until you see others are starting to get their tires, you are already late and will be behind those that order today or are waiting.

Last but most important, and this is strictly Bill Howell's thoughts:
If you have kids or have raised kids, you know that every Christmas there is the next KOOL Toy that everyone wants and no one has enough of them. I know you know what I am talking about, you know, stand in line at 6AM to get the voucher to buy that one elusive present. Yeah, been there done that myself.
Anyway, the new Rival S is that new toy for us grown kids. Being such, and being fresh production, and being produced now in a totally different location, and other factors just simply have production behind. The tires are coming, and coming as fast as they can possibly get them through the chain, but it is what it is.
If I was to guess a time, everyone would be mad if I missed the date. All I know is tires are being made even today and as soon as possible they will be shipped, first ordered get first tires.

I know this isn't the answer some want, I know that my charger has slick Rivals on it now, I know the new Rival S are worth the wait and I know there are much more important things in my life than when I will be mounting the new tires, I hope the same it true for each one of you. Kiss your kids, hug your wife, enjoy your life and when the new Rival S arrives, life will be perfect.

My "S" tires are on the White truck as I type this post. I should have them by next week in plenty of time for the Mid-West Muscle Car Challenge and the Bowling Green optima events.

I spoke to tire rack yesterday and they said that BFG is switching manufacturing plants. The new Rival is going to have a new part # because of that, but the tire will remain the same. Tire Rack also said that they won't be available till maybe August or after that. They could not tell me for sure. Just saying what he told me.

I'm running a 285 35 19 and right when fellow members convince me to go with the Rival they are out of stock lol my luck. I don't think I can wait that long. Only because my tires are bad now and events that are coming up.

My only other option is the RE11 Bridgestone. A Member advised me that Bridgestone RE71R is coming out with a 285 19 but who knows when that's going to happen :(

Hankook has 295/30/19 and 305/30/19 IIRC in the RS-3 200TW. I would rock those in a heartbeat.

The other tire that is very good is the Michelin Pilot Super Sport. It is available in the size you want, and they perform as good if not better than many 200 TW tires, even though they are 300 TW. The other nice thing is they are available cheap used on CL or Ebay. Here are a couple options for you, the first is your Bridgestone RE11, but make sure they are 200 TW, not the earlier 180..

I also would make him a lower offer...

I really appreciate the help Tom. Now you made the decision for me even harder with the Michelin Pilot Super Sport. Im going to look up some info on them. I heard the Hankooks are cool too. How old is to old when it comes to buying a tire? 1,2, 3 years? They have dates marked on them right? I heard that no matter where or how they are stored, the rubber will change and the tire will not work to its full potential. Not sure how true that is, but it does make sense.

Im sure you do more auto cross events than i do. People seem to be happy with the Pilot Super Sport? What would you do if you were in my shoes? RE11, Pilot Super Sport? Again i would love the Rivals or the RE71R. But that could take as long as the fall. Negative on that!

It just depends on the size you decide you want to go with. Right now if you can live with a 275/35/19 I'd go with the Bridgestone RE-71R. If you can go up to a 305/30/19 I'd get what I run now, the Hankook R-S3. If you want the 285/35/19 I'd go Pilot Super Sport. The Super Sports didn't start production til 2013 so they are all fairly fresh. I get used ones and run them all the time, mostly for road course duty when we are doing 10+ laps in a row. They are a super consistent tire. The Supersports do well at Autocross as well but I think the Hankooks are slightly better for one 60 second lap. I'm going to try the RE-71R for the first time Sunday so I'll know more about it then...

I know that at least one set of Rival S have shipped. A buddy, and member here received his today. Remember, first ordered get first shipments. If you don't have your order in, you are late to the party.
