I have heard many compaints from the DSE dealers, but the prices from Summit and Yearone are there, losing money or not...thats what they are selling them for. What can I say, good deals and lot cheaper than off the DSE website.

I suspect there is a contract between the big retailers and what price DSE sells to them. What the retailers decides to sell them for could be more or less and may not affect DSEs profit. But obviously if yearone sells hundreds a year and makes $250 off each one is better than selling a dozen a year and making $750

On an off topic, do I need to buy any additional parts to install the frame? Steering shaft etc?

I believe it comes without trans x-member, steering couplers & shaft, engine stands, etc. They sell it separately but I'm waiting till I get the subframe to figure out what I'm going to go with it. DSE site says any trans x-member that fits stock sub will work on theirs. I'll probably get their braided PS lines if they'll with with my F body acc. It also looks like LS1 Fbody pan or LS2/3 C6 pan will fit the sub. I might be forgetting a few things

You are correct that there is a dealer agreement. They also signed a MAP agreement that spells out what the advertised price should be as well. It boils down to retailers not keeping up with price updates. I can tell you for a fact that if a DSE retailer is posting anything other than retail pricing online, once DSE is aware of it, DSE will notify the company to correct the pricing discrepancy. If it is not done, they could be removed as a dealer if they remain in violation of their dealer/MAP agreement. By advertising below MAP pricing you are de-valuing the product by saying it is not worth what the retail price is. Some companies build this into the retail price and offer sales all the time. Others do not like DSE.

You mentioned Summit, there pricing is correct at retail pricing. Year One is not correct because their retail pricing is out of date. DSE can't control what prices are over the phone, but they can control advertised pricing.

you will need motor mount kit, steering shaft kit, and headers that will clear steering shaft. stock crossmemeber will work if you are not using the setback mounts. dse headers will only work using setback mounts.

Are outdated prices why the manufacture prices are always higher than everybody else? I noticed this with DSE and Hotchkis. Personally...I would buy direct from them if their prices were equal to or lesser than places like Summit and Jegs.

Best price for 2nd gen DSE frame?

MSRP, Racer, Jobber, Dealer, Wholesale... That's something like what the pricing breakdown is, in order from highest price to lowest. A lot of companies have a MAP policy of Jobber or something, like Wilwood for instance. But ridetech's MAP policy is MSRP so that's why you don't see it on Summit for lower than RideTechs website.
Summit has buying power so they can get the wholesale pricing easier than us for example. So I might not be able to match a super low price that Summit offers because it's below my cost.

I very often see outdated pricing too. Take advantage if you can but make sure the seller is legitimate, not some eBay name.

There is no DSE 032316 on DSE's website, I wonder if its an old part # too.

Yearone is notorious for not updating their prices or their part numbers. I bought my 2nd DSE subframe from them a few years ago and it was right after DSE switched to the JRI shocks. The part number I purchased did not match the DSE part number and it also said I would get the AFCO base shocks. The frame was drop shipped from DSE and it actually came with the JRI base shocks.

I would go by the description more than the part number. If is says a powder coated and assembled subframe than that is most likely what you are going to get.
