      traction bars

On my '68 Camaro, I'm wanting a traction bar that's a little different than the standard ones. I would like to build mine, something like a ladder bar. does anyone have any suggestions? Show me your ideas..

      Thanks

      traction bars

Just curious, what are your goals? I've found that a quality leaf and shock set up built for our style of driving visually eliminates wheel hop and gives great launch predictability.

it's going to be a daily driver. No autocross etc. The '67 I had years ago had traction bars and it hooked up great. I've set the rear end up correctly, but I do want to limit the movement of the rear end wrapping up. I just want one that is different. I want it to look good and function.

      traction bars

The 67 had non staggered shocks from the factory and was very wheel hop prone. In 68 and 69 the shocks were staggered (one in front of the axle and one behind) and this helped with wheel hop. I believe the 67 SS or z28 car had a factory traction bar one one side to combat wheel hop but don't quote me on that. I believe you can achieve a leaf spring set up without a traction bar that performs well. My set up is the hotchkis 3" drop leaf with their Bilstein shocks that are tuned for hotchkis. This system is solid with absolutely no wheel hop on aggressive launches. Now, if you like the look of the traction bar that's one thing l, but if you want the feel of no wrap up, today's aftermarket leaf springs can't be beat.

That is correct, Brian. The '67 Z/28 had that set-up as did a 396/375hp Camaro that Don Yenko brought in an did an over-the-counter engine swap to a 427. Not sure, but that traction bar set-up might be for 12-bolt and/or high performance application, to deal with the traction issues.

I do like the look of the traction bars (old school I know..) I have replaced the single mono leaf spring with a new 5 spring setup. I like the look of the old ladder bars. I have a 4 link system that a friend gave me, but I've yet to find anyone that knows how to put it together. It's in parts (new) but needs to be welded together. here is some pics of it.

      anyone have any ideas?

what about adding an upper link, like a 3rd link. that would prevent axle wrap too.

Do you have any pictures? I'm not sure what your talking about. Sounds interesting though.
