I have the Dyantech headers on my 69 Camaro LS3 combo and they are way low too. Any one try the Doug's Headers with ridetech's Tru-Turn? I was considering Ultimate Shorties now. Anyone try them?

You may want to flip the motor mounts around (2 bolts on top/1 bolt on the bottom) so that the flange on the bottom. Like the photo of ridetech Velocity Camaro

      https://www.pro-touring.com/threads/...493#post372493

My understanding is that Dynatech used Velocity to develop the headers. My Dynatechs were hanging quite low, until I flipped the motor mounts around.

is there a reason you need long tubes? have you thought about shorty headers? to help the clearance

By the looks of the collector angle you have, it's than likely they set the angle of the engine to allow installation of a 4L60-4L75e transmission under the tunnel without requiring any sheet metal modifications. It will go in, but as you can see from the photo it requires you to run a steep inclination angle somewhere in the neighborhood of 5 degrees.

Maybe but I there is a big difference side to side as well... So I me pretty sure my set is really more of a quality issue.

If I use these headers I'll cut the collectors off and keep the engine set as is.. I'm currently down 3 and will work well with the rest of driveline..

I run ebay swap headers I cut the crappy flanges off and put a set os thick 1 7/8 flanges and flare the tubes before flange install.. This is what I run on my 1969 Nova with a 427 stroked 6.0 cathedral port engine. Works great i've done several sets for local guys.

Yeah, I guess I'm greedy and want the extra hp. I feel like switching to shorties is just giving up at this point.

Between PM's, my thread on LS1tech, LatG, and here, I have acquired a lot of good info and will probably pull the trigger this week.

You must have ordered from a different vendor, or quality control is a little different in China. I have a few header threads going between 3 different sites, and thought I posted these pics here. But I guess I didn't.

Ground clearance isn't bad with the eBay headers.

But this is what I'm dealing with for clearance around the PS box:

And here's what I had to do just to get that:

Well, after a few weeks of researching, emailing, PM'ing, three different threads on three different sites...I had narrowed it down between the Dynatech's and the Doug's 3337's. I ruled out the Texas Speed because there just wasn't enough info on them, and I wasn't crazy about the design.

The guys from Dynatech were great with trying to help, but it's the same design as the Texas Speed stuff (still wondering if Texas Speed copied them, or if Dynatech is making their headers).

So I ordered a set of the Doug's 3337's (jwcarguy's pics helped push me to the final decision). My only hesitation was that they look identical to the ebay brand headers that I was looking to get rid of. In fact, when I first got them, I thought they were identical, but there are subtle differences in the tube design (i.e. the guys in China didn't do a perfect job on the knockoff). I installed them this weekend. I ended up moving my engine and transmission about 3/4" back towards the firewall and I'm very happy with the clearance.

And just for reference, I'm using the tall & narrow '69 Z28/350 frame mounts (3945507/8) and the tall & narrow Energy Suspension motor mounts (3.1117G). Along with the Dirty Dingo Sliders, and a BMR adjustable T56 trans crossmember.

Waking up this header thread rather than starting a new one, looking for what header I want on my 68 camaro convertible, ls3/480hp. I have kooks 1-7/8 on my LS7 and they fit good but hang down lower than I'd like. I would prefer to stay with a stainless header, based on the above info I am kind of ruling out dynatech and dougs due to the ground clearance.

Has anyone tried the flowmaster 814115? 1-3/4" stainless and ceramic coated? The other ones I am looking at if anyone has feedback, stainless works and American racing headers both have a stainless header but more around the $1k mark vs $650 for the flowmasters. thanks- Dan

Ground clearance was great with the Doug's.

I have ARH 1-7/8" Stainless on my swap. They are tucked up tight. Check the last page of my build thread.

Based on your pics I would say they are similar to the ground clearance on the kooks maybe worse, not terrible but not great. Some of the others seem to tuck up tighter to the floor and barely hang below the subframe. You have 2" below the subframe.

Quick note on the Flowmaster 1-3/4 headers, build quality looks good. But I only test fit the passenger side and it hangs down below the subframe about the same as the kooks on my other car or the pics above of the passenger side Dougs. Lower than I was hoping, I might have to get the American Racing after all..

I've use the Hooker Supercomps on a couple builds. They clear everything and tuck up nice.
