CAD parts of Pontiac V8 and LT1 T56 - Anyone?

I'm about to start designing my front end for my Firebird, but it would be good to have a Pontiac engine (or atleast a engine block) in CAD.
Perhaps someone has had the same problem as me and is willing to share?
I'm running Solid Works 2012, but step/iges or even 2D dwgs are just fine!

all engine related parts are welcome...

A LT1 T56 would be a great bonus too. It's not critical, but it would be very nice to have for some smaller tweaks during the design process.

      Thanks!

The best thing you can do is get some measurements and build your own files. I don't know of anyone willing to release data like that. Even dumbed down parasolid files. It is quick enough to build a "no detail" placeholder kind of model. As long as the envelope is correct there is no need for any internal details.
I built a TON of parts (and got carried away with a lot of them) while I was designing the chassis and suspensions for the van and I am very hesitant to just "give" them away... A LOT of work is involved here, as you know.

yeah, I know about the work with CAD parts. My thoughts were to bring my engine block with me to work and copy it there. However, since it's quite heavy and not really appreciated at work to bring the "slightly" larger car parts.

But I'll try to fix it during a weekend or so. I was just thinking if there was someone who had some parts, they might be willing to give them away. It was worth a try ;)

Instead of bringing the actual parts take a photo. Put a tape measure on the part for scale and then you can measure the photo to develope the part. Take a pic from the six different sides and you can have your block modeled in a few hours.

      It ended with that I brought the computer to the garage for a half day and measured the block;

It's fun to CAD... sometimes a little bit too fun. So I did the heads too... and the alternator... and the dry sump pump... and the AC-compressor.
Hey, at least it's good for reference points when I'm going to do the front suspension...

      Lol.

It didn't take that much time actually... The block took maybe three hours or so.

      Thanks.

I have nothing against sharing a couple of parts or an assembly or so if that helps someone. Hopefully someone will do the same for me in the end. For people just collecting cad-files for the sake of it and with nothing special in mind, I might think twice though. However if someone is in desperate need of it, I would be just happy.
As long as the guy receiving the files has in mind that my measurements might be wrong and won't blame me for this. And perhaps leaving my logos on the parts... ;)

There's so much knowledge on this forum in different fields so if everybody does what they're good at and help each other out, we're gonna end up with a bunch of bas ass cars! lol.

Hey Ripper, if I were considering dropping my Pontiac power into a Gremlin, but the engine is at the machine shop nearly 3 hours away and will be for a couple months...could I talk you into sending me your cad engine assembly so I can see if this swap will work? I use Solidworks, so that format would be perfect if you don't mind?!

It would be nice to be able to get models like Local Motors down here in Chandler AZ. I downloaded their entire vehicle for a project I'm doing with them, and their LS3 and 4L80E (I think) are perfect in every detail! I spend 15 minutes at work just marveling at the CAD work, lol. Check it out. The files are very large though, be warned. I have the LSX, now if I find a matching T-56 model I'll be good!
