      Which LSx to Build

I am building a 71 Camaro for road course duty and a little street. I am at a point where I need to build an engine. I am considering a forged LS3 or 418 (I gave up on the SB2). It seems the 418 is a popular drag race engine but as I will be using the car will the engine wear out fast by running it 4000-7000 rpm every weekend? I read that GM used titanium rods in the 427 (4" stroke as well) for durability up to 7000 rpm. I just want to build it right the first time and not feel like tearing into it later looking for more power.

Yes the ls7 does have titanium rods and intake valves....the ls3 is a great motor to base a engine off of and it's not a dry sump like the ls7
      Good luck Ryan Austin

No matter what engine you choose if you're running it every weekend and twisting it hard regularly you'll likely need to freshen it up annually. I would also seriously consider a dry sump if you are going to run it on a road course regularly.

I have been researching the dry sump option. Just having trouble determining which pan will fit the car.

I'm using the stock LS7 pan but I have a DSE subframe.
