      Dakota Digital VHX install question

I am almost done installing the new set of VHX gauges in my 68. I like them a lot. My question is where is everyone putting those SW1 and SW2 buttons? I had thought about trying to put them on the bottom side of the dash (not the gauge bezel) so they were easily accessible. I know the wires coming off of the switch aren't very long but just wondering where everyone is putting them.

I put them in my 68 and absolutely love them!! As far as the buttons go you can put them right under where the metal rolls under the dash with not problems at all. Just splice a same gauge wire in between to give it extra lenght to put it where you want. I built a custom console in mine and just ran them to that inside the glove box....

I put mine on the right bottom of the dash. I used heavy duty double sided tape to put them on.

I struggled with this decision as well when I put my gauges in as I didn't want to cut any new holes in my dash.

I ended up cutting a piece of aluminum angle, polishing it up and mounting it under my dash. This gave me a spot to not only mount my electric fan 3 way switch but the two gauge buttons as well. Here is a not very good picture of the bracket and switches mounted under the dash.

My control module is behind my glove box so I had to extend the wires that ran to the buttons.

Look at the bottom of the steering wheel the bracket that hold it on. Excellent spot.

This is very old post but wanted to throw this out there, check the cigarette lighter housing…
It’s an exact fit, and if you don’t smoke. Remove the housing, drill 1/8” hole, insert rubber wire guide. And your off.Name: IMG_5604.jpg
