      Value of an LS1 longblock

Hey guys. I have come across a LS1 long block that is for sale. Its a 99 LS1 out of a Z28 car. I am told that is has 95,000 miles on it and was running when it was pulled from the car. (I'm told, but can't be certain these are facts). The block is complete with oil pan. Heads are intact and have never been removed from the block. Valve covers are present. NO drive accessories, NO intake, NO wiring harness, NO starter. It is a bone stock engine with no work having been done to it. I am looking for something to drop into my 68 Camaro to be a daily driver type engine. I believe tearing this engine down and refreshening it up would be a great idea before dropping it into the car. I can purchase this engine for $750. Is this a good deal for this engine the way that it sets? Can I expect to find anything comparable to this if I continue to look around?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

      Thanks
      Brian

Thats a great price in my opinion.. 95K really isnt much for these motors. I'd do a compression check. If it checks out ok I'd put seals/gaskets in it & let it ride. If its never been apart I'd leave it that way.

I was told that the heads have never been off of the block so I guess it would be smart to leave them on there and just add to what is already there.

X2.... You should be able to piece it together relatively cheap using some forums. I'd ride until the motor tells me I need to do otherwise.
      Big dreams, small pockets....
