I love box flares.
I wonder what a box flares Monte Carlo SS would look like...

The blue 65 fastback is really nice. What tire / wheel sizes are your running?

If done right and the curves blend with the car it actually looks good and factory. If it looks like you slapped fender flares on it...Ugg...Sorry but that white first gen is an example of horrible ugly fender flares.

Me and my first Corvette back in my Junior year of High School in 1976.
Too bad you can't see the full rollbar or the bubble headlights that complete the package.
454 with a 1967 Corvette 3x2 setup, M-22 4 speed transmission and a 3.55 rear gear. Steering, Brakes, A/C, Tilt and more.

After they glued and riveted their widebody-kits (usually coming with an airride system, because function follows form) onto pretty much any other car "Liberty Walk" recently slapped a kit on the Mustang too:

Alternatively, does this count as a widebody?

That's the Artz-modified Volkswagen Golf 1.
But if you put it alongside another Mark 1, you see that it's not quite stock:
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2018/08/Golf_V801-1.jpg
Two were made, back in 1979.
The first one was made when Mister Artz (a German tuner) got his hands on a crashed Porsche 928 and decided to slip the Golf's body over it.
So, basically, the car was cut into a left half and a right one, and then adapted to the Porsche-floorpan and drivetrain, leading to the clearly wider body.
Inside, at least the black one (which I got to take a close look at a few years ago) is 100% Porsche, down to the dash and seats.

That looks great! Just exactly like a 69 Firebird! Love the hour-glass shape when photographed from above.

69 Firebird and Camaro have exact same factory stock fender and quarter panel profiles. So it looks exactly like a stretched 69 Firebird... :)

My new daily driver/occasional HPDE/track day car. 2020 Charger Scat Pack Widebody in Frostbite Blue. 305's front and rear and 15.4" rotors and Brembo 6Ps up front! The 66 Chevelle isn't being built for track duty, so this is where I get that fix.

That will be an Interesting Track Car! I'm not on the Mopar side of BMR, but I know we make some parts for your Vehicle.
Have Fun!

They are pretty fun out there with the big V8 power and really nice for the long road trip there and back. My last one was a regular 2016 Scat Pack and I found the limit of the smaller, 13.7” rotor/4 piston caliper Brembo front brakes at Road America, so it was time to upgrade to these big ones. The added square fat tire setup won’t hurt things either. ;-)

Bumping a popular thread to the top.
First off the GM factory wide body (Mildly wide:lol:) option that was possibly the first one they offered. The Mirage option was available for Monzas in 1977.
Then a car that is a legend in some Pontiac circles. The "Grey Ghost" a 64 Tempest Trans Am racer campaigned by Bob Tullius back the early 70's.
https://grayghostpontiac.com/history-then-and-now-1
And lastly a car I had bought out from under me at a swap meet around 1995. It supposedly was an ex-race car that had been converted to a street/show car in the mid 80's.
