Morning All,

Sorry, I'm a little late on the update this week I am in Florida with the Family.

Kenny has been busy working on the frame.

The before

The After.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

Our goal is to have the frame look smooth when you look into the engine bay.

Good Morning All,

I've spent a lot of time trying to design the right sound System in the Cab of Syborg
and the good news is the Guy's at Kicker have stepped up and helped design a very simple yet effective system.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

Dan over in Kicker R & D selected all of the Compinents for the truck and I can't thank him enough.
I've learned that more isn't always better.

This amp that was choosen is the ZX550.3
It is a 3-Channel Amplifier with Class D 3rd Channel for Subwoofer(s)
w/Remote Bass Control (controls subwoofer channel only)

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

The Speaker are simple and should keep the Interior very Clean.
6-1/2" RS Series 2-Way Component System
1" Teteron elliptical dome tweeter with neodymium magnet

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

Of Course you need to have a little bass and Kicker has the perfect subwoofer for the small cab.
10" Shallow-Mount Subwoofer

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

Mounting Depth is only 4-3/16"
Yep, that's shallow - perfect for such a small cab.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

Also Included was a Complete Wiring kit which i really need to take a picture of.

Good Evening All,

Okay were back from Columbus Good Guy's show, It was a blast.

2008 Good Guys Columbus Pics (http://garagescene.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=45)

So this is why the Monday Update is actually happening on Wednesday this week.

The Engine and Tranny have been painted.
I know the pictures stink - Travis took them with his cell phone.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

Close up of the Bowler Tranny Painted
Yep, I Think Travis went to the Kenny Davis Photography School.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

Rear Differential is painted and ready to go back in the Chassis.
However we need to order all of the chassis hardware from Totally Stainless.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

Okay, It is very hard to tell the color from the above pictures.
But not to worry Kenny took the below Picture.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

So you still can't figure out what color it is.

Good Afternoon All,

Kenny Has been cranking on the truck.
In order to put the chassis together he needed to get a list of Hardware together.

Once it was together we put an order in with Totally Stainless.
Lets just say "Doc" is awesome to work with.
He took my list and pulled it all together in one day.

You say no big Deal - well check out the list at the bottom of this post.
It's 963pcs total and there are still plenty more to order.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

This is just the hardware for the chassis.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

All of the hardware come bagged & tagged.
All Kenny has to do is look for the bag that states the area he's working
and he's off to the races.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

Just another close up of the parts.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

Ya know the best thing i ever did was sell all of my projects (3) and work on just this one. There is no decision on which one I will spend the money on.

Trust me it's something you should consider.

Good Morning All,

Just a quick little update.

This post is a little out of order -- sorry about that.

Prior to putting the chassis together it was important that we get the right parts for the chassis.

Quick call to Art Morrison and we ordered up some 5/8” x ¾” Stainless Poly Rod End.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

Okay getting ready to put the motor in the chassis.
However Kenny had a few complaints.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

Seems the Red Poly Motor Mounts were unacceptable and a Quick call to Summit Racing solved that problem.

Time to order new Black Poly Motor Mounts

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

Let's not forget the Tranny Mount.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

What the heck lets order some more ARP Stainless Steel Bolts
from Totally Stainless.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

Finally the motor is in the chassis

all the inner sheetmetal in the wheelwell & under the back of the bed would have to be removed in order to take the bed off.

Which i hope to never have to do

Were going to keep the boost low intially to keep the motor around 650hp to work all of the bugs out of the truck.

After that we may push it up to 800hp on e85

The cage is welded to the floor of the cab and there is a mounting location in the back that ties it to the chassis. The front down bars are also resting on the re-enforced floor which is over the front cab mounts.

If you have any connections for the show, let me know. They denied me the last 2 yrs. I didn't enter early enough one year (3 mths b4 the show?) and I forgot why the other time. Probably cause my car wasn't a lowrider or sponsored by someone. I was looking forward to that show for a long time while building and it's left a bad taste in my mouth ever since.

I am looking forward to seeing yours and hopefully you can give me a 'behind the ropes' tour.

Good Morning All,
It was a busy day at Kenny's Shop.

Big Al flew in from Florida to Wire the Big Stuff 3 & MSD Ignition.
He was did an awesome job and we couldn't be happier.

Big getting ready to cleaning up the Injector Harness.
All the wires had to be trimmed to equal Length so the harness would look clean.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

Now this is how it should look.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

Working on the inside of the truck.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

All of the necessary wires coming out of the tranny tunnel.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

All of the wires neatly run under the manifold.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

All that is left is to shrink wrap the all of the fitting to keep the colors dark.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

Once again I owe Big Al big for helping us out.

Up to the fuel rail

Love the 6 cylinder - it just looks cool to have all the normal parts but shorter more compact package.

I gave up on trying to make all my stuff look show ready, but things like this bothered me when I was trying - the red anodization of your fuel pump and regulator don't match the gray/black/satin/polished finish on all the rest of your equipment ! If you're headed to SEMA you need to take care of that :)

Also - I know you are working with top flight people who know more than I do about what works, but running a rear mounted regulator with a turbo engine seems very dangerous to me. How confident are you that that is an acceptable configuration ? I'm okay with that on an n/a engine. I don't see a vacuum line connected to it yet - maybe you are not increasing fuel pressure with boost and depending on the injectors/computer to compensate ? In which case it wouldn't bother me. I'd be interested in your thoughts on this.

There are plenty of fittings that need to get swapped out to black or silver depending on there location.

We also have a bunch of underhood painting that still needs to be done. I heading out to see Bob Thrash tonight as he has the valve covers and Intake tube that he is doing graphics on.

Sema is a no go - were holding off till January

Fuel System - I will try to find you the thread that Jody put together. It explains it much better then I could.

ps - there is still alot more plumbing to go.

No need to waste your time looking for the thread I do remember reading it. What I remember about it was that Charlie was absolutely convinced it was the way to go, but hadn't actually run the car under boost in a serious way at the time. The other people who had setup their regulators that way were big n/a motors.

And for highway roll ons I think it would be okay, but in a road racing throttle on/off wildly varying manifold/fuel pressure situation I would be concerned. I mean there must be a reason all of the serious vette guys convert their returnless fuel systems and every single high power turbo combo I have ever seen does not run this setup.

I like it -nice and clean, and definitely keeps the fuel cooler, I'm just throwing out a warning - your call, I have no direct experience with running this setup, not willint to take the risk.

That's cool if your're changing out fittins, I was under the impression that this was truly final assembly.

Good Morning All,

This post is all the friends I've made on these Bulletin Boards.
It's amazing how many people where involved in creating the brake pedal for my truck.

First Person Involved was Rodger from Iron Works
Roger drew the original pedal arm for his C6-57 Project and yep he will be selling these.
Below is the link to the project:

www.ironworksspeedandkustom.com

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

Then Shannon from www.modoinnovations.com stepped in -- pardon the pun
and sent us one of his really cool brake pedals.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

Not to worry were going to give him the pedal back.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

Then Ron Wilson from www.hoodpins.net stepped in and made the modification to Rogers Pedal Design.
If you need to have cad files created this is something Ron can do. [email protected]

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

Our goal was to make the pedal arm look similar to the Lokar Gas Pedal
and yes we will be using Shannons Gas Pedal

First Ron created the pedal pad and made it look similar to Shannon's Pedal.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

Then Ron made the modifications to the Pedal Arm.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

So now we have Brake Arm that matches the Lokar Gas Pedal
and a Brake Pad that will match Shannon's Brake Pad.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

Marty needed a modified brake arm and the pedal had to be moved (offset) to work in the location he needed. So we used Rodgers really kool design and tweaked it a bit to look similar to the Lokar gas pedal. There wasn't a standard brake pedal to attach the Modo to so rather than make a pedal and add the modo we made a pedal that looked similar to the Modo pedal. Marty is using the Modo gas pedal.

just finished reading this projecttread from start to finish ......AWESOME :worship:

i'm having porterbuild and deeds working on sumtin simulair for me based on a 1973 chevrolet C10 longbed pickup and a 522 V8 (wish i lived in the states so i would a little more controll on things and do some of it myself but i don't )

my build is still in the first stages and i'm still trying to find all the ad on parts for the build at reasonable prices , the links to all the manufacturers you put in the tread realy helped a lot , a couple of them i knew but most of them wheren't known to me , the one link with the wheeloffsetmeasurementdevice (for lack of a better word .... wonder how mush points that would give at scrabble ) realy going to get the project underway sooner as i dont have to buy wheels now but later on in the build and saves me a lot of time getting the right wheels for the truck .
never knew wheel manufacturers would go through the trouble of delivering wheels unwelded so you could check the offset and definetely will look into that option by the time i'm getting the wheels myself

i like the idea with the airfilters , i had planned something based on those but youre idea should work a lot better and uses space i haven't thought of before
the innerfenders and the flat firewall look great too , i was looking into placing the motor back a little bit on the frame to make more room for the turbo's and radiators in the front , as for the indent in the middle i was going to use the steel bed of a wheelbarrow wish has nice compound curves and can be cut several way's to fit .
the innerfenders you've made actually look like the side of a wheelbarrow too (no pun intended) , i might base mine of those too but will add room behind the wheels for the cooland tank and pump for the liquid to airsetup and a remote oilfilter and oilpressureaccumulator for the turbo's

its funny how simulair the build is going in terms of starting out with sumtin that you want to make look stock and changing youre mind on it a couple of times , i just wanted turbo's on a basicly stock big block whent through a 540 bored and stroked stock block and ended up with a 522 dart block afr heads propane injection instead of propane carbs and a water to air intake intercooler setup .

.....by the way : Josh i start transferring cash to you again next month just keep me informed on progress will you ......

Good Morning All,

Kenny sent the Valve cover back for the last time.

I took them over to Dennis High Speed Welding - he added a couple bungs on the back of the valve covers.

Just in Case.

www.highspeedwelding.com

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

Kenny was even good enough to tell us exactly where he wanted the bungs.

Intake Tube looking nasty - man this thing needs some paint.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

Now all three pieces are in Rich Miltons hands getting cleaned up.
Rich is going to smooth the Valve covers & intake tube.

Once he's done with them he will hand them over to Bob Thrash so he can work his magic.

It's been a long weekend.

Some of you may already know that Kenny was injured over the weekend at a Rock Crawling event.

He was ejected from the vehicle as it rolled over landing on him crushing his skull.

He was life flighted to St John Hospital in Tulsa, OK where they put over 20 plates and more then 30 screws in his head. They had to removed some of his brain tissue that was exposed to prevent infection. They feel that the loss of brain tissue shouldn't be a problem.

He also suffered a Fractured Cheak Bone, Broken Foot & Ruptured Ear Drum.

It has been a trying couple days for the family but it seems like Kenny is doing incredibly good actually better then they expected. So good that this morning he was able to eat breakfast and they will be moving him out of ICU.

At this point and time it doesn't appear that he has any problems.

It is a miracle that he is alive and doing so good all I ask is that everyone please say a prayer for Kenny and his family.

There are a bunch of people sending Kenny T-shirts & magazines as a get well wish and if you would like to do the same you can send them to:

Good Morning All,

Well, I have good -- No, I have GREAT News Kenny is home resting with his family.

So since he's home I figure I would continue updating all of the hard he has been doing on the truck.

The AAW Wiring harness installed and almost complete in this picture.
One of the best features is that all of the wires dead head at the fuse panel.
This helps to keeps all of the wiring super clean under the dash and makes for an easy install.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

The Sparco seats installed in the truck.
The seat cushion is going to take a little work but they may work.

More pictures of the Dash wiring.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

Air Ride Controller -- waiting for a home in the Center console.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

We have plenty of update that I can share between now and Christmas so keep watching the BB's.

I also want to thank everyone that kept Kenny and his family in there thoughts and prayers this past week.
It has really meant a lot to them and everyone close to them.

Life has taught me one thing people may come and go in your life but great friend are irreplaceable
and I look forward to being able to call Kenny when I'm bored at work just to see what's going on.

Nope, we've pushed off the date.

Right now it's more important that kenny recovers then works on the truck.

Good afternoon All,

Just another Quick Update.

Kenny has pretty much finished up all of the electrical.
This is the first time the lights have been on since Sept of 2001.

The next two pictures are for all of the people that have asked me to post a picture of it on the ground.

Clear Tail Light ????

The truck looks freakin' awesome, but I gotta say this - I hate the clear taillights. the white color of the light doesn't mix with the pewter/silver of the rest of the truck. I actually think stock taillights would look good. the red would complement the red upper body color.

but... it's not my truck. :D

I agree. Or at least tint the clear ones a little to knock down the brightness of them. They stick out like a sore thumb.

Adding the final Touches to the Wheels

So how do take a set of Wheels from Billet Specialties to the next level

Paint the centers of course.

Actually I used to work on the truck.

Dave at Comp Fab did the chassis

Guy at Rockford Racecraft built the Motor

Mike @ Race Proven Motors built a bunch of custom Motor Parts

Kenny, Travis, Kenny Sr did the Paint & Bodywork and now they are doing the final assembly

Bob Thrash did the Graphics

and Tracy Weaver from Recovery Room Interiors is going to the Interior.

So in the End I am just the project manager.

However when Kenny is done with the truck it will come back to Chicago and I will do some small stuff and then Rad Rides is going to Dyno the Truck

Kenny's doing really good - he still has a long road ahead of him. Right now his recovery is much more important and the truck has slowed a little. So no dice on the WOW show but I am planning on going to the show. Shoot me and e-mail and we can maybe hook up at the show. [email protected].

Tell Teddy - What up Brother

Good Morning All,

When I started this project it was my goal to team up with all of the best builders and build my dream truck.

But it doesn't stop there, in order to build a great project you need top of the line parts.
That brings me to today's post.

When we were looking for sound deadening the choice was simple - Cascade Audio Engineering

www.cascadeaudio.com

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

I know most of you may have never heard of them but trust me there stuff is far supieor to the mass marketed stuff.

Each kit - yes each kit is designed to satisfy your projects requirements.
Options include:
Car Noise Control Kits
Car Noise Control Dampers
Car Noise Control Barriers
Car Thermal Products
Car Noise Control Gasketing
Car Sound Level Meter

For Project Syborg we choose Noise Control & Thermal Protections.
VB-2HD -- Vblok Vinyl Heavy Duty Dampening Sheet (.075" Thick)
VB-4 -- Vblok Barrier Pad; New Super Flex Barrier 37 x 54
VB-2MAXBP -- Vmax Aluminum Dampening Sheet, 20pcs bulk pak NEW !
VB-5 -- Vblok Gasketing Foam ( .125" Nitrle-Neopreme Foam ) 10" x 10"
DPP7 -- Deflex Power Pad 7" dia. Pair
D12 -- Deflex Sub-woofer Pad 12 x 12" Single

Check out VB2 installed on these two doors

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

When it comes to vibration damping sheet materials, there simply is nothing better than VB2 (.040) and VB2HD (.070). VB2 and VB2HD are lightweight, highly formable, vinyl based damping sheets that contain a silica mica and ceramic load incorporated to convert panel resonance (vibration) into low level heat through friction. The VB2 products are odorless and offer excellent cosmetic integration characteristics and may even be painted to achieve the ultimate in OEM appearance.

When applied to the surface directly behind the door trim panel as a replacement for the flimsy, plastic vapor barrier, the VB2 products perform a variety of functions.

Primarily, they act as a viscoelastic vibration damper lowering the resonant frequency of the sheetmetal, plastic or fiberglass substrate. VB2 and VB2HD will effectively turn the doors into a much more solid enclosure instead of the "tin can" that comes from the auto manufacturer. The products feature an extremely aggressive, modified acrylic adhesive that is stable to 250°. VB2 and VB2HD are also Class A fire rated making them acceptable for commercial and residential applications.

Secondly, because the materials are much more dense than flimsy plastic, they act as a vapor barrier and airborne sound barrier when applied over the access holes leading into a door cavity. Low to mid and high frequency road noise may enter a passenger compartment through the doors as well as back wave energy from door mounted speaker systems. The VB2 products perform extremely well in this application to block these irritating road noise and prevent acoustical short circuits.

Professional automotive builders worldwide choose VB2 and VB2HD for the lightweight, high performance characteristics as well as for the extremely clean look of the finished installation. Please feel free to contact us should you have any questions or comments regarding the installation or application of these products.

Good Morning All,

This post is for all of the people that were concerned about the taillights.

Yes, we agreed we needed to do something different with the lights.
So after searching everywhere I found a set of lights that look pretty darn good

Found them on Ebay of all places
Item number: 360125458410

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

Once the Line-x is all cleaned up they should blend in well with the back of the truck.

Can you let us know where you got the mesh ?

I like the look of what you used and have found it surprisingly hard to find mesh like that. Maybe its not what I think - Its easy to find standard stainless mesh to use in a protective manner but its not really cosmetic, and I have found (very expensive) decorative electrochromed cosmetic mesh like you see on pimped out Chrysler 300's or Cadillacs, but have had a hard time finding a mesh like you are using which is more than anything like a speaker grill type material.

Maybe it just looks different int he picture and that is standard ss mesh but it lookslike what I've been looking for.l
