      2001 Cadillac Independent Suspension

Has anybody used a 2001 caddy rear suspension in a 69 Camaro? I have a local guy selling this a for next to nothing but I wouldn't have a clue if this would work in my 69 without major fabrication.

First step would probably be measuring the width to see if it's close.

I thought about that several years ago, seemed you could get the whole rear cradle and assembly for $400 on eBay. If you can get some measurements, please post 'em up. I don't recall what center is in those or what gear, how strong, etc., but the Cads weren't light cars. Don't know how it would package in a Camaro, but a neat idea.

Might want to look and see if there are upgraded half shafts and gears, etc. Depending on the power you put down. I don't claim to be a suspension guru, but just because it is irs, doesn't mean it will perform well. Those were built for comfort.

Yeah I should measure it out, the guy only wants 200.00. My concern is how I would mount it, I'm sure there would be a lot of fabrication involved.

Driving home from a visit down at Pismo Beach, CA, I blew a my left rear tire doing 75 mph. The lower quarter panel actually was pierced through from the steel belt leaving wholes in it. Looks like I'll be doing some body work now. I've done a comeplete ground up restoration on the car myself including the bodywork and paint. I'm thinking of converting into a 4 link coil over suspension and toss the old leaf spring suspension since it will be down for a while.
