Fan switch and placement???

Ok, I have my fan switch located just before on the entry point of the radiator. It is properly grounded and works when "jump" the switch. I ran the car at idle up to 230 degrees but fans never kicked on. The switch is a 210 185. Would there be that much temp difference from the engine head to the radiator?

The switch does work, I pulled it out tonight and held a torch to it and the fans did kick on.



In the pic below, you can see a short section of stainless pipe right before the radiator inlet, that is what the switch is mounted into... and again, yes it is grounded.
