i like looking at the cars but the fabricated drama is unbearable.

also it doesnt help the stigma the public has towards muscle car owners.

I cant rev the engine at a redlight without having to worry about blue lights popping up...even though im doing the speed limit

I just don't see how the risk justifies the rush or fun. Just haul the car or drive them to the track ,have the timing lights shut off so people don't know exactly how fast your car is , and go at it. Some tracks even have special nights with the timers off all night. Most of these guys don't want anyone to know exactly how fast the car is because then they can't make any money.

Ok I watched an episode. Cool cars. The guy that makes his wife work OT so he can live his horribly expensive racecar fantasy, is a complete d-bag. Can someone explain to me how the hell these guys arent going to jail. They have video evidence of them running 130+mph on the street, cars, names, faces and locations. How does this exempt them from the law??

There is something cool about street racing, and I did like watching pinks more than sanctioned events. I think drag strips should have a night where you can line up and run with a flagman and no times displayed, same format as a street race but not on public roads. Its a thousand times cooler than discussing where you bought your brake kit. I love when you see the old pics of clearly fast cars with steelies and primered fenders, stickers in the window and a lift off hood...badass...

If I owned this car now I would primer the fenders!

Because it is staged on closed roads. It has to be. There have been a few episodes where the cops show up and they just somehow get away with huge trailers and their names stenciled on the side...while the camera crew sits on the ground and films it all.

Its ridiculous. Just film the cars and let them race. I highly doubt anyone watches the show for the drama...most people watching are car guys/gals

And of course there is a difference between old school street racing in a deserted industrial area than two cars weaving in and out of traffic...

Let me ask this - if those are the fastest street cars in America - how come they dont drive them to the race? Theyre all trailered in. The racing appears to be on some sort of a street of some kind - albeit shut down for for racing - but that doesnt exactly qualify this as street racing in my book.

Street racing occurred between me and a Scion FR-S last wednesday. With the FR-S taking me because I COULD NOT HOOK UP - like AT ALL. Time for new tars I guess.........

And what this guy said -

ya but the import race scene is way cooler than this show.
i used to go 'watch' the street races after import meets. occasionally the fox body mustang crew would lurk just outside the meet and join the races to spank some hondas. but the RWD cars were the real fast ones. nissan sr20's and supra 2jz's mostly.
im also building my camaro for grudge racing, cheater sauce and all.

Love the cars but so tired of canned drama as said before. I won't watch it but I must admit this is way better than Naked and Afraid. Discovery, TLC and the rest have gone to hell.

So very obvious last night the "call out" races occur at an air strip. You could see the guide lines and the blue marker lights outside the track.

And I aint even mad - Im just happy its not occurring on public roads.

At least Farm Truk was doin some racing. Seemed pretty staged but...........

i have seen some youtube action on that farm truck and last night when they went up against the 2 ricers, i dont think the nos was on or maybe they put a sbc in it ??!! and they didnt show hardly any of the motors in the cars, 2000 plus horsepower hooking up on the street , yeah right ! agreed, most of these channels are junk now, hope the guys who make these stupid programs are looking at these threads on these forums,,,,,,you suck ! one of the best shows that i have ever seen on ( i think it was speed) was "rides" now that was killer and they didnt have any drama it was all about the muscle !! wish they would bring that one back !

I'd like the show if it had all the same characters and back stories , EXCEPT , witout the street racing. \
They should take it to a dragstrip and hash it out , grudge style , in a safe environment .
Street racing with that kind of power is just plain careless ..

Well last night's episode sucked. I don't give a crap about watching birthday parties whether it be dog or human. Just film the racing and the wrenching! That's all we care about. I did like seeing Farm Truck take that wing off the Honda though. LOL

they did it on a "track" - well it was an airstrip but either way it was a closed environment.

Larry Larson's Nova......Fastest REAL street car in America. Drove it over 1,400 miles and ran in the 6's at over 200 mph.
