I need a check engine light.

My 68 Firebird has the standard instrument cluster. The dummy lights are GEN TEMP OIL and BRAKE. I need a check engine to connect my LS harness to. Is a check engine light just a pigtail with a light or is there something to do with resistance or something? I know very little about wiring.
      thanks
      Scott

What did you end up doing? I used a painless LED bulb. The wire comes off the harness for the ground.

I have helped several people wire them up, we used a dual colored LED one for normal lights. just an idea.
