      Larger front sway bar!

      All I gotta say is...WOW!

      I originally had a 1" solid front sway bar without a rear bar. Rear stuck well but the front pushed bad. I added a 7/8" rear bar and was much better. Balanced the the car ok, but still had lots of body roll. During autocross, it was tail happy in fast transitions.

      Now I replaced the front bar to a Speedway Engineering 1 1/4 spline, 1 1/4" solid. (Couldn't go bigger unless I went to the 1 3/4 spline NASCAR bar) It is no doubt much flater in the curves. Seems to be handling much nicer. Next stop..Camarillo autocross to confirm.

      650lb front springs
      425lb rear springs

      Weight without driver- yes heavy car, a/c, iron LQ9 twin turbo, 1000watt 14 speaker sound system...
      LF 1085
      RF 1045
      LR 817
      RR 862

      it is a little stiff, but overall drives nice.

      What is the motion ratio in front? For stock geometry that's really not stiff at all, given the corner weights.

      I'm running a mustang II style front suspension. Not the best I know, but it seems to do ok.

      I added the wilwood pro spindles and 1/2" taller upper ball joints. Spring motion ratio is .777. Sway bar is .666

      13.5" lower arm length. 10.5" shock mount, 9" sway bar mount. Coil over Shock angle is about 15 deg.

      Speedway rates this bar at approx 600lbs at .5deg.

      I was thinking about bending the sway bar arms out and pick up the shock mounting point. You think this would be worth doing?

      Thx

      What’s the part number or link to sway bar? Would like to take a look at it.

      I know we all like images..Lighting is a pain underneath..good thing for photoshop..contrast/brightness!Also hard to get much more as the bar disappears into the plumbing abyss..

      8.5" and 9.5" arm connection points. Speedway rates 1 1/4 solid at 584lbs at .5 deg at the arm length noted in chart of 8.5". 10 degs at 8.5" out equals approx 1". Would it be safe to say that equates to approx 1168lbs per/in? Looking at DSE bars..1500lbs/in on a 1 1/18" hollow bar? not sure how they get that..really short arms?
      Looks like some touch-up paint is in order..DOH

      Whats the vehicle model? And was it an easy swap to the splined bars?

      Thanks! What did it cost and is there a model that will work on a stock subframe? Will it give more clearance than the stock type 1 inch + sway bar?

      It's a 68 Camaro with an aftermarket clip, so it was already set-up with a splined straight bar (37.5" bar length)

      $387 for bar, arms and pillow blocks.

      Not sure if you can convert on a factory set-up. I have an aftermarket clip. As long as you can run a straight bar across and mount two pillow blocks, it would work. Standard bar length is 37.5"

      The larger 1.25 solid front bar worked very nice. Stayed much flatter. Big difference over the 1" solid in the handling department. I'm thinking of jumping over to a hollow 1.38" to reduce a few pounds which I can definitely use.
      Straight Speedway Bars
      261lb = 1" solid
      584lb = 1.25" solid
      784lb = 1.38" hollow

      Although I was on and off the throttle too much in this next clip, this was my fast run of the day. 67.7sec which I think was somewhere in the top 3 times. Go figure..
