      Emissions Question

Hey Guys, I'm wondering what kind of troubles you've had with emissions regulations. I am in the middle of swapping my 5.3 into my second gen camaro and have heard about the new regulations in Ontario ( Canada). This year they are starting random spot checks at car events, if your car does not have the required emissions equipment you could be given large fines and brought in for a sniff test. The emissions equipment requirments are based on the either the driveline or body which ever is newer. I can not run any power adder that didn't come with the car originally so that kills my blower, turbo and noz options. If I decide to carry on with my 5.3 swap, I could be looking at constant emission tests and have to go with fuel injection instead of the carb. I bought my 71 camaro stripped and have not found enough info on the emissions equipment required for it. Has anyone else run into something like this?
If so please let me know, any advise would be great!

      Thanks, Hans

All the info you require can be found here. http://www.ene.gov.on.ca/environment...8201.html#1999

They aren't starting to do random spot checks, they have been doing it for a long time.

Being you are swapping a 2000+ year engine, in the year 2013 into a older vehicle, you would be required to have all the emissions equipment that the engine came with.

There is nothing in the regulations stopping you from using a power adder, so long as all emissions equipment remains in tact. However it may make it more difficult to meet emissions standards if you were instucted to go for a e-test. Seeing as how there are a few legal, bolt on LS blower setups from companies like Edelbrock it is possible to achieve what you want & stay legal.

NOZ is illegal for street use regardless of MOE regulations

Running a carb would be a issue as you would no longer be using the OE ECM to control the motor & the emissions controls.

You don't need to worry about what emissions controls your Camaro came with from the factory as it will be the engine that dictates what components are nessesary in this case.
