      UMI driveshaft loop issues

I got my new driveshaft today and tried to install my UMI driveshaft loop part# 3500 on my 88 Monte Carlo SS and I have a T56 as well. It does not fit and hits the driveshaft under the yoke, its like its a inch to high in the transmission tunnel. I can cut and reweld it where I need it but trying to see if anyone else is running this trans on a Gbody and driveshaft loop and having/had these fitment issues.

      Hello,

Can you send us a picture to [email protected]. I am wondering if it has something to do with the T56 since it is hitting the yoke? Have you lowered the car to the ground with all the weight on the suspension then looked? They driveshaft can hit when the suspension is hanging in full droop. Our loop is made to fit dead center with a 5" ID which allows all kinds of clearance. Thanks

I will send you a picture tomorrow when I can get under it. It hits right at the universal, so suspension being loaded or unloaded has no effect but it was loaded when I tried to install it as I was installing my new drive shaft. I doubt its transmission height as well as the reverse solenoid is up against the floor and I'm running a Gforce T56 specific crossmember with a energy suspension mount. I feel that output shaft placement on a T56 may be offset compared to a automatic.

I appreciate the fast response though!

Yes please send a picture. I just installed one, fit perfect with a 700R4. Jig is impossible to mess up, loops in stock are correct and we never had an issue. So I would be curious to see. Thanks
