      69 Camaro Project Insanity

Well, I have spent many hours on these forums researching how I want to build my car so I figure it's about time to start my own build thread and hopefully contribute some of the things I have learned along the way.

About my build. I picked this car up in November 2012 and drove 17 hours one way to get it. I was looking for a car with most all of the major body work completed and decided this car fit what I was looking for. My goal is to build a very nice pro touring car with all the performance and feel of a new car. Oh, and it must be able to out run most any factory street car on the road

Here are some of the plans for my build.

      Suspension:
Chris Alston Chassisworks front subframe and rear G-Link with a Fab9 rearend. I also have the subframe connectors and cradle with wilwood brakes.

      Motor:
LS1 with a D1SC procharger. My goal is to have 600 rwhp. I have a 4l80e with a Jake's Performance Stage II kit and billet torque converter

      Interior:
I am working with "The Shop LLC" to get a full custom interior for the car.

While I was installing the mini tubs I had read in several threads that the frame rails were very weak on these cars. I decided to go ahead and replace both frame rails with aftermarket rails. Here is a picture of the difference between the two. It was no easy task doing this but will be well worth it when I'm finished. I also seam welded a few areas on the rails to strengthen it up a bit.

Here are all my parts from Chassiworks. It was a little overwhelming once I started opening all the packages.

By the way. Sorry for all the large pictures. I haven't quite figured out how to make them smaller yet.

This is my rendering that isn't quite finished yet. I still need to choose the wheels and a few other details but this is the look I am leaning towards. Please feel free to offer any advice whether positive or negative. I tend to like unique looks that are somewhat original. I am hoping this one will turn out good. Right now I am leanig towards a flat black with gloss red stripes.

Sounds killer but you need to fix your links. Looking forward to seeing it come together.

Looks like a solid car to start with.

Have you rendered the car with the rear quarter stripes on the front instead? I haven't seen too many cars (especially camaros) have them and i think it looks bad ass. Looks sick either way.

Thanks for the replies. It was on my list of designs to be rendered but once I seen this one I decided to go with it because I wanted to see a few more red accents on the car. Hopefully, the next rendering will be finished this week with the wheels on it and I will be able to make my final decision on whether or not to go with this design.

By the way, I am looking at my wheel options now. I have seen the rushforth, forgeline, fikse, and billet specialties wheels. Are there any others that I'm missing? And do any of you all have any sight sponsors you would recommend? I am looking at custom offset 3 piece wheels.

HRE has some pretty cool wheels. A little pricey though.

First time signing on to your thread and I have to say the same thing about the strip, I was going to asked if you had one on the front fender. I like your concept it looks sweet...

      Good luck with the build.
