      Rear gear selection

I have heard more than once on here about the importance of being about to run second gear throughout the AutoX. I am running a TKO 600 and must select a gear for my new 12 bolt. I liked my old 3.4 gear but was looking at maybe a 3.73. Is this a good chioce for AutoX?

I think I've seen the majority running in the 3.73 - 3.89 range. I went 4.11 to get my little motor up into its power band in 2nd. I had a 3.50 that did well in 1st, but banged off the limiter in the fast sections. My motor doesnt have enough grunt to pull out of the slow corners in 2nd. This is where I ended up. Hoping to try it out in a couple weeks.

I have a long rod 408 with gobs of torque. I guess that would bode well for a slightly smaller gear? 3.50-3.73?

I like a 3.25 rear gear. Lots of room in first and second gear, and I really don't care about "out of the hole" torque.

Is this completely subjective to personal preference? Is there any kind of guide to go by b4 I order my gears? Maybe a MPH at red line for second gear calculation?

Not a bunch of difference in mph really.
