      Are You Unbeatable?

I have a new contributing article with my stories on a online car/race enthusiasts website called Bangshift, follow me this year! with some back story, and current tales of good and bad, heres the start

      Are You Unbeatable?

If so, then read no further.

I ended last year’s autocross season with a win at the GoodGuys Southwest Nationals and put up pretty good numbers at Del Mar the following week in the Pro Class. Even with a win, I realize that GoodGuys Autocross is a pretty small pond; I’m not an SCCA competitor, I haven’t raced anywhere East of Scottsdale, Arizona and my only road track experience is from Run To The Coast (American Street Car Series). I also have never had any formal training.
I have read every book on Autocrossing, listened to people who would tell me what they thought I should do, asked any fast driver who was willing, if they would either ride with me or if I could ride with them and I studied every fast driver at the track, watching lines and braking patterns. But again, I have had no formal training; I don’t know what I don’t know.

Good article and I 100% agree. I'm headed to Skip Barber Monday for 3 days in a Miata. I'm hoping to vastly improve my driving skills since I won't be able to use horsepower as a crutch for my mistakes.

Great article. Going to EVO school 1&2 in April, can't wait.

3.31 is the gear to have in the 5.0 mustangs.......and bump the rev limiter a bit.

The Evolution Driving school was great and to have all my friends there was even better, it didnt matter that they have won, 11 national titles, another the One Lap of American, the next were also American AutoX champions and a few SCCA champs thrown in and we all learned, and after 30 runs if you were stuck the instructor jumped in for a few laps, and talked about changes needed and then you went back out and dropped a little more time off!
      have fun Donny!

Great article and I've started looking for some driving schools in the North West so when my car is ready I'm not getting into it stone cold.

If I was to do it again, I would taken a driving school very early on, but I always do things the hard way

Not sure about your area but there are several Autocross groups here that offer beginners classes once a year. Not nearly as thorough as the one Rod talks about but its something.
