      Header / Steering Box Interference

Does anyone make / sell really tight 90 deg Power Steering Fittings for a GM Steering Box? I am trying to gain some much needed clearance for a set of 2" Primary x 3 1/2" Collector Custom Headers on my Omega. No "Off The Shelf" Big Block Olds headers made for these cars, so I don't want to tear up the ones I had made. The raised port RR/Wenzler Heads have the headers moved up and out a bit from the location on the stock heads the Headers were made for.

As a big time X body fan I'd sure love to see photos of this car! Sorry all my cars have had SBCs, so I've never had to modify lines.

Might take some fiddling, but I think you could get away with using banjo fittings at the box, and AN flare adaptors to run to your hoses.

This photo is for a different application, but shows what I'm referring to pretty well.

I had the same problem with my 572 engine header power steering box clearance on my Nova. You can bend the 90 degree fittings a little to gain some more clearance without crimping the fittings. I was and am still thinking about raising the engine up a little with shims under the mounts to gain a little more room as I definitely do not want to modify my headers. I had originally ordered a new 670 ps box modified by Tom Lee but that would not ever come close to fitting with my headers so I installed a reman 12.7 800 box I got from Oreilly's. Right now I have about 1/8" to 3/16" clearance at the one header pipe that passes right over the fittings, I installed some heat shield tubing over the fittings and hose to help with the heat. So far everything has been good.
